Ok, I think you guys are misunderstanding my complaint. Yes I was worried about having enough hours but thats not my issue. Yes I didn`t want to go to laredo either but again, not my issue. My issue is that my DM told me that Swift is forced dispatched and going on my secong week solo he has already accepted 2 preplans for me. My very first load he accepted and I went to wisconsin. I didn`t want to go but it was 2000 miles so I knew I would get a half way decent check. He asked me about going to NC before I accepted a load to GA but this time it was no more than 5 minutes before recieving the load assignment that I recieved another one saying I accepted it and then he sent a messege to call him. I told him politly that I would accept my own loads and that is when he sais Swift was forced dispatched. I called phoenix several times and could not get a person on the other end after waiting over a hour over all. I`ll try again today but I did call memphis and talked to another dm and she said the same thing. I can`t find anything on their site or in my driver manual that clerifies either way.

I don`t think the length of my experience has anything to do with my question but thanks for your input. I have a oppertunity to possibly get into a dedicated by the end of the year that pays very well and since I`ll be going to the same places every week it won`t matter but I would still like to know for sure, find something written saying yes we are forced or no we are not forced.

Have been with Swift two years. They are not forced dispatched on OTR drivers (most dedicated accounts are). You will not find anything in writing saying they are not forced dispatched for this very reason. Most crappy DM's enjoy scaring new drivers into doing ALL kinds of things. If you get a crappy DM you have to have a backbone and stand your ground or they will not only have you driving illegal but also in unsafe equipment.

Personally, I would call my fleet manager or terminal manager and request a new DM. I for one do not put up with a DM blatantly lying to me. I will get another one at the first sign of them being a jerk or dishonest. Crappy DM's are a dime a dozen in trucking and you have to keep on until you get a good or great one.

Thanks Lugnut. Thats the info I was looking for. I plan to get a new DM when I get home next weekend. My mentor said he was never forced but is also now a O/O for the last year so he said maybe they changed the policy. Some of his other students got the same DM as I do and they all hate him. He was a mechanic there and for whatever reason is now a DM. He won`t be mine for long.

they cant not accept a load for you they send a pre plan and its up to you to acept or decline the load. how ever if you tell your d.m. that you can pick up the load and ask to t-call the last part of the load they mioght work with you. plus they are looking a your macro 10 that you turned in.

What is the True Definition of "Forced Dispatch"? I'm a 9th year driver but don't have a clue if I've ever been force dispatched or not.! Ooops!

well thats the thing, he DID accept the load for me. I can`t even get him to respond to messeges half the time either. I know what I need to do so I`ll be talking to the terminal manger when I get home.

apparently it means the DM can accept loads for you and send you where ever he wants. At least thats the definition I`m getting from my DM.

They will not ask you to run illegal. My mentor has been here 4 years, never asked to do that. It sems like they don't read your macro 10. You are tracked on being on time, and for pulling everthing you are offered. If you want dedicated you need to get a good reputation or stay OTR.

Only run I don't want is Taos Nevada. Been warned about that one.

No forced dispatch, and when it is time to go home click the hometime button on your rejection.
