Conway requires 1 year. Well the LTL side anyway. Going from one large truckload carrier to another truckload carrier is like asking if you want to be shot or stabbed. Either way you gonna hurt![]()

LTL? A guy that graduated before me is 50th in line to do city pedal for them. Works on the dock as "casual" until then.
Looking at what the Conway line haul guys get? -

I don't have a clue. City pedal is not my idea of fun.
I am out here for several reasons. One is I want to see this country before I die. I don't forsee me doing that when I am retired, no jobs at home so here I am! -
do ya think they get lots of drivers not wanting to go here or there even tho they got the hours to do it? then trying to turn pre-plans down?
If the dm dont keep track of your hours, then they are just throwing stuff out there for ya. if you cant run it you cant run it!
but if ya can, i say run it. -
Only load I will turn down is one going into Taos NM. If they want to route me in from the East I will turn it down. If they want to route me around the West side I will do it. My mentor told me he came in from the East one time, Curves winding up and down the mountains that are too narrow for a straight truck. No guard rails and you are taking both lanes a lot of the time.

Certain loads you turn down even as a company driver. If not you sit forever waiting on the next load. Prime example is Florida loads with Swift. It is not unheard of for a driver to sit for two days waiting on the next load from there. Only way I accept ANY load there is if they stack me on a load out prior to me accepting the load. -
SWFL or SEFL they can send me there! I have family in Key Largo and Bonita Springs. I own 6 acres in Naples I can't give away

Getting decent miles with Swift is entirely your DM and your relationship...the planners don't bother to look at available hours when they are assigning loads...to them it is just a matter of pick and pull and assign, then when a driver declines a load, they (the planners) adjust by picking another truck. Yes your DM can (and will) accept loads for you...it keeps his/her numbers up. The other driver from CA is in trouble, the FM's will support only their DM's, never known either of them (Barbie or Mary) to support the drivers side...even years ago when they were both DM's when the terminal was in Stockton, and don't try going to the wimp Term mngr...he will just pass you down to Mary or Barbie and not even pay one cent of attention to you. Trust me I speak from experience...Lathrop is only bested in back stabbing by Phoenix. Watch your back in Lathrop and Phoenix. -
