Even if you finish the school and get your cdl, it won't do any good if you go to orientation somewhere and tell them you used pot one time. If you do, they'll send you home.
You won't be sent home because you used pot one time; you'll be sent home because you use poor judgement by admitting something that you already know will derail your trucking career.
It's like going home to your jealous wife and bragging that you just got laid in a massage parlor. Why would you do that, knowing it will ruin your marriage.

I'm gonna be like this. I'm still going to drive a truck. I might have to go with a company that others would consider crappy, but this ain't gonna deter me. I'm a fighter. I don't usually let stuff like this get me down. It's all in how the cards fall. I got an ace up my sleeve. I'm just waiting for the right time to use it.

Besides, their ain't no reason why I cant go to trucking school on my own. There are a number of schools here in NC. Some are at community colleges.

A positive attitude and/or determination is definitely a sign that you can succeed. Now, go make it happen!

Get a pre-hire FIRST. Seriously. Find a company that will hire you BEFORE you put all that time and thousands of dollars into a non-trucking-company school.

If you dig through these forums, you will find lots of people posting their woes about paying for school then not being able to get a driving job.

Without inside help from friends or relatives, the trucking industry is NOT newbie friendly for anyone who does not follow the standard path of classroom and road training.

That is exactly why I looked at the Paid CDL Training part of this website. If it is possible, I can get my CDL Permit on my own. That I can definitely do. Only costs 60 dollars and it comes with a 6 month time frame and I can get one 6 month extension. I may go that route, if it possible.

Yes, getting a permit is cheap, and not a bad idea. Paying for an industry-acceptable trucking school is NOT.

Also note. Some trucking companies will NOT accept graduates from some independent trucking schools.

If you see a 'cheap' trucking school, they are likely cheap because no major trucking company will hire their graduates.

Ask the trucking school what companies hire their graduates, then call those companies, tell them the name of your trucking school and make sure they will hire that school's graduates. THEN get a pre hire from that trucking company before you pay a dime to the trucking school.

Pre hiring is a very important step if you go to a trucking school that is not part of a trucking company. Do not skip that step.

Yes, you can do that, but you still won't be employed if you admit you've ever used pot.

Not with any other company. I passed the drug test, so they won't find out.
