some states you still have to pay either property taxes or personal taxes on motor vehicles. and then the DMV sends to the insurance company updates on the plates. once you get rid of the plates, no more taxes.

my state gets a yearly tax based on our vehicles license plates.

when we renew our yearly plates, we have to fill out a short insurance questionnaire...this is why the insurance company knows, as the DMV checks for insurance.

Ahhhh. I do know here in NC that when you turn your license plates in, you go to your county tax office and hand them a letter stating that you have turned in your plates and depending on whether you are close to the renewal date or not, you may or may not get a refund on the taxes you paid.

The lady I spoke to said that a final decision on my application has not been made. She explained it in a way that wasn't exactly clear.

Thanks. This crap is aggrevating. I'm like if someone can go for five years off of probation and not get in anymore trouble other traffic tickets, none of it should be held against them. Especially if they were on probation for five years and was recognized for not giving trouble outside of traffic tickets.

BTW, traffic tickets only stay on your record for three years in NC.
