BTW, NC does not require schooling to get a CDL license. I don't really wanna do it that way, but if all else fails, I will get my CDL license that way. And I don't mind it like that if I don't have to pay for schooling.

I hope y'all don't take what I'm about to say in a way that is not good as it is not intended like that. I don't mind schooling for this but in my current financial situation, I cannot afford it. If I get my CDL license on my own, I be darned if some company is gonna tell me that I still have to do that. However, if I do get my CDL on my own time, that will be less that the company has to pay out for me.buddyd157 Thanks this.

here's the thing....some say "due to insurance" and without some sort of schooling, you may not get hired.
then you need a truck to practice with and go to the DMV for the tests, can you get a truck?
your state should have the WIA program. it is free training, you have to apply, then you get to go to a CDL school for the "short course", which is about 4 to 6 weeks.
you can try and get hired on at some trucking company, and THEY train you, but then YOU HAVE TO WORK for them for about 1 year, to pay off that "loan"
once you get your CDL, it is really up to the employer to accept you, or deny you, due to how you obtained that CDL.....
good luck, i'm stepping out now, i tried my best to help.dtj12231989 Thanks this. -
oh my bad, i didn't go thru all the pasts posts...thanks!

I apologise for my irate comment. I am trying my best to get anything that I have a reasonable chance of getting, only to be turned down. It just so frustrating to try and try and try and keep trying for more than ten years, just to get the same response over and over again. I have applied to Burger King, Bojangles, and other places here in Bertie County and they all say the same thing. Can't hire you due to your background. Even Perdue, the company that deals with processing chickens from the chicken houses won't hire me. Forget about convenience stores. A relative of mine works at one here and told me that they don't hire felons period. Misdemeanor, they take all day long.

Good luck. If you can swing a private cdl school, there's plenty of jobs available with companies that hire felons and new cdl grads right out of prison.Lepton1 and dtj12231989 Thank this.
