This is one fundamental reason I have never and will never pull a reefer. That and the darned reefer unit going off and on all night.
What you are saying is totally understandable. There is only one problem with this thought process. The truck belongs to the company, NOT the truck driver taking extra time off before returning to work. If you do have to get another truck out of the yard, the driver's main concern is that the truck is SAFE, in EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION, & CAN PASS D.O.T. INSPECTIONS. As far as the cleanliness of the truck is concerned, the driver can actually take the time to thoroughly clean, vacuum, and wash down the truck. As far as personal stuff is concerned, the driver should realize that his or her stuff needs be able to be moved at a moments notice. If you are going to leave the truck in the yard for any length of time, ALL PERSONAL STUFF SHOULD BE REMOVED, as a personal security matter.
Lol the unit turnning on and off through the night isnt much worse then the guy next to you at hight idle when it 65 and comfortable to sleep with windows open. Lol Sometimes I will turn it on continuous run so that it dont shut off at all . At wich point all it becomes is background noise and isnt to bad . Unless you get a real noisy one. Then it real sucks and not much sleep is gotten that night
