"Instead, you should be out there helping each other to learn the proper ways of doing things. The trucks you drive are 80K pounds! They are moving bombs that could kill someone at anytime. If we take just five minutes of our time to help the "Newbies", we could alleviate most of the accidents that come from inexperience.

I will now get off my soap boxand return you to your regularly scheduled program..."

Don't get off that soap box!!!!

Isn't that what a common community is all about?
Truckers, like bikers, have always been that way in the past - so why not now?

I have never been a trucker, but I have had a couple bikes. And if one our own was in trouble, it didn't matter if it was a hog or a putt-putt or a Yami or a Kawi or a Honda wrench, we helped who needed help.

We are all in this together, no matter who we work for or how much we make. We should all be eager to lend a helping hand to make our collective jobs safer.

Maybe this industry needs a wake-up call, IDKnow. But when one trucker can sit back and laugh at another less experienced driver without lending a hand - that is when everything comes to a crashing halt.

Face it, you 'more experienced drivers that sit back and laugh' - at that next truck stop, the next accident waiting to happen might be that same driver that you just laughed at, crashing into your $200,000 rig causing you $50,000 in damage because...

As to the photos - none were a repeat of the same incident, as far as I could tell.

But would the poster of those photos please go to the same trouble to find photos of other carriers' accidents? Because I'm sure the same could be found for any carrier - either in photos or accident reports.

If I want to smear any company, I could find a few photos to make my case. But what if I wanted to compare everyone against everyone, with # of trucks on the road, # of new drivers, # of whatever factored in?

I doubt Swift would be much worse than any other, all things considered.

And the pup in front of the party store?
It doesn't look like more than a very heavy front end that tilted when unhooked.

Maybe the entire load was 12,000 pounds, but it was all loaded fore of the landing gear?

i have to admit --some of those are pretty #### funny tho
but look at how many trucks swift has
there is bound to be some screw ups at any company
then look at how many good swift drivers there is--and you could have the anology that swift only hires perfect drivers as well

You also have to remember, we don't know the story of a lot of these accidents. A few of them seem to be driver error, but those highway wrecks? We don't know what happened. Doesn't always mean driver error.

I 've seen some of these posted on the bulletin boards at Swift termials. A few of them have been up for years

But, as I've said before, if someone has a hobby to keep his mind busy, like dissing on a company because he can find a few dozen photos of trucks in pickles out of over 16,000 trucks fleetwide, well, at least he has a hobby. It appears to be such a large part of some folks' lives they feel the need to stalk drivers from that company on internet message boards and point out mistakes made by a tiny minority of the company.

Oldnewbie said it best: if you have a company of 16,000 trucks and 1,000 of them get in trouble, you have 6.25% bad drivers...or 93.75% good drivers. If you have a company with three trucks and two of them are messed up, you have 67% bad drivers and only 33% good. (This is paraphrased)

With a Safestat score of 36 and a CSA2010 score of 33, I think I'll bank my reputation and company name on Swift.

That pic of the tipped up pup is hilarious! What do you wanna bet, the store manager insisted the driver drop the trailer and didn't have a nose jack? I'd like to be a fly on the wall to see the guy's expression who was inside there when it tipped! (Would somebody pass him the wipes, please?)

but injun....if you roll the truck because of the wind.....its no different than getting rear-ended on ice covered road, even though you got stopped safely. It still is a preventalbe, cause you the driver knew the road conditions, but went out or stayed on the road anyway. just sayin'.
