i'd say for any companies reputation, the company is responsible for 40% of it, and the other 60% gets divided up between outside perceptions, and actions of its employees.
swift has 16,000 trucks, but all the swift haters will come to the conclusion that 15,000 of them are controled by wild, crazy, know nothing drivers. Kinda like playing poker.....you don't recall the hands where you got lucky and won a huge pot, but you can remember in detail the really 'bad beats'. So its true with broke down or wrecked trucks on the side of the road. You might see 3-4 wrecked trucks in a month, and out of the whole year, you might see a handful of swift trucks. But since so many are on the 'i hate swift' bandwagon, that little number of wrecked trucks somehow turns into half the fleet is in the shop or on the back of a wrecker.
Kinda like Schneiders reputation. You see a few trucks patched together, fenders being held on with orange duck-tape, so you automaticly think every truck in their fleet are a few miles from totally falling to pieces.
or how about the shuttle program. 132 flights, and they've had 2 accidents....so that must mean the whole program is bad, huh? -
Is the issue just about the Greer terminal?
-
I'm starting school after the first of the year, so anything I can glean now will help in the long run.
I'm looking at Swift and it sounds like their Greer terminal is at issue here. How are some of the other terminals. As I'm in Oregon I'm wondering about the Troutdale terminal. Anybody have any insight. Positive or negative would be welcome.
Thanks -
I never once said anything about working for Swift. I only spoke to their reputation and my dealings with their employees. You guys seem to be trying to tell me that somehow Swift's drivers are separate from Swift. If your an employee of Swift, you are Swift. Therefor everything you do as an employee of Swift is a direct reflection of the company and its reputation. We can just agree to disagree but no one here is changing my opinion or the fact's.
Here's a perfect example:

No one see's owner operator X parked all messed up they see Swift parked messed up. -
Dwayne, let me ask this: do you ever consider taking a photo of non Swift trucks that are parked incorrectly?
Seriously, if I spent my day snapping pictures of every truck I see doing something wrong I'd never have time to drive. And the large majority of those photos wouldn't be Swift trucks.
But hey............knock yourself out. *shakes my head* I just wish I was even just half as pure, holy and perfect as you seem to think you are. -
If Nana, 1nonly, Oldnewbie and scores of others are a reflection on Swift, then i'd say we're looking pretty good.
Did I see the driver in there perhaps getting his log book caught up after moving off the fuel island to clear it for someone else? I don't know about you, but I'm not going to waste my time backing in just to make a couple of marks.
I'm proud to be on the same team as the above folks and thousands of others.
For questions about Troutdale, PM me. -
Hey Nana.. Hope the diet is going well for ya. I have on occasion taken pics of non swift trucks parked wrong. I will try to post some on here if i can find them.
If they don't move, they usally get hit. We had a truck get hit because they didn't park correctly. Our driver actually got fired for that one. He parked by the end of a scale.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
Every company is going to have its bad drivers so with that being said let's try this. Instead of picking out all the bad drivers and harassing them why don't we step back a minute here and look at the big picture. We all started at some point and time in our lives and had to learn. Hell ill tell ya right now I have trouble alley docking cuz with what I pull I don't do it much. Swift has offered me a job has marten also. So when I go to work and have trouble alley docking as an Exp driver I'm gonna get my balls busted just because I'm not perfect or because I work for swift. I guess what I'm saying is instead of nagging a driver because of his inability to do something why don't we exp drivers get out and lend a hand once in awhile. I'm not saying park the truck for the man just give him a little help.
hotrod1653 Thanks this. -
Looks like that to me. Take what, 5 mins to catch the book up? There are a lot of good Swift drivers out here.
