Swift Is Good

Since you are the first one I've seen on this site that is in a Swift truck right now, do they keep there promises and how is the pay? I don't mean to pry into your finances, just give me an average, and how has your trainer been to you?

 

I was there from 2002-2003, and they havent changed that much since I was there from what I understand. I started out running J.I.T. loads, which I wasnt supposed to be allowed to since you were supposed to have to have at least 8 months of employment with them. Then I moved from J.I.T. to a Sears dedicated account. Good money too. Was making $1,000/wk for being out 4 1/2 days. I never had a problem getting hometime, my DM's were the best, one of them being the assistant head of operations at the Columbus, OH terminal. And before I got on the dedicated route, I was always pre-planned. I never sat mt. I was always rollin. And I wasnt an exception to the rule. There were alot of drivers there that I knew that never sat idle. But there were a few that did, but they were the typical types that just wanted to sit in the terminal or truck stops and talk with other drivers and just hang out, then cry and complain that they werent making any money. So yes, they got to sit, and no, they didnt make any money. But you will find that at every company you go to. And my trainer was pretty cool. His name was Jesse and he was just a good ol' boy. I rode with him for 4 weeks, then they teamed me up with another driver that lived about 30 min from me and we teamed for 4 weeks, took the driving test and they then cut us loose. J.I.T. (Just In Time) was a pain cause every load you get is a hot load and cant be late, but you make more money that way.

 

Does Swift enforce any idle rules now that the temps.in PHX is getting into the mid to hi 90s ?

 

Plug in type only, and less than 450 watts is now the official Swift policy on Inverters. Waivers can be obtained if a larger one is needed due to medical conditions etc.

 

You must not have read every post. I've posted a few times in here and currently work at Swift.

I started out OTR and, after a month, got moved to the Wal Mart dedicated. I was there from September 2007 until two weeks ago. Now I am on the Intermodal account. Which rules. I work 6am to 6pm, Monday thru Friday. No weekends. And it's all drop/hook.

 

The two main reason for inverter problems is.
A. The driver uses to small gage of wire.
B. Faulty or bad ground.

Nothing like seeing a 3000WT inverter that's wired up with speaker wire LOL.

I'm trying to figure out how Swift figures their workers comp claims. Are they usually pretty good about paying up? Or do they try to screw you any way they can?

My boyfriend was injured and they are saying they will not pay for the doctors visit they initially approved because the doctor didnt run the right tests...

 

I had a worker's comp claim with them and they covered everything.
