I currently drive a company 2008 International TransStar daycab. It's not a bad truck but it goes in the shop about every other day for wiring issues with the rear turn signals. This thing has the super singles on it.

They started the "thanks" button after I was well over 50 posts so I guess you have to wait for 25.

Do they do alot of drop and hooks? I know it might be a stupid question but just wondering
-
When I drove for them I would estimate about 50-60% of my loads were drop and hook.
-
When I drove OTR with them I would say 60 - 70% where drop and hooks, and in my 3 years with them I maybe had 4 driver load/unloads.
-
I only had one driver unload at a Kmart. I had maybe 4 or 5 driver assisted unloads. Had one load I was supposed to assist on according to q/c but when I got there they said they would do it all. My favorite assisted unload was at a Costco DC with a dog food load. After they began unloading I was called to the warehouse. The forklift operator said he could get done alot quicker if I would help. What was my job? Pull the cardboard pallet dividers out after he pulled each pallet from the trailer. Fifteen easy minutes of work and my DM got me $60.00 for helping unload the trailer. Then Werner wonders why I have turned down their offer to do a Family Dollar dedicated account when they want me to unload every box off a 53' trailer three times a week for $65.00 per trailer.

Been reading almost every post here for the last few days, and Im leaving for Swift in 2 weeks or so, down to Memphis woo(I think?) and will be based out of Gary, IN(WOO, NOT) Im 26, was a mechanic for 4 years for Reynolds, but cant find a job in that anymore, not enough experience so Im told. Have done landscaping for the past 1 1/2 years as a foreman. ANYWAYS on to Swift.
My mom has been working for them for about 8 months she seems to really like them, she switched from secretary to trucking, has always been interested in it I guess, her dad used to own a portion of Rose Cartage in Dolton IL(Im sure someone has seen some around) but Im rambling.
They will try to jack your pay on occasion, but just bring it to the attention of your DM. The only bad experience she had was with a trainer or Mentor as they call them
She's not a bad looking lady for 43, and this guy was always hitting on her in a off hand manner, no biggy, but he got more serious and turned in to a total #######. She got off the truck, and they fired the guy(she even managed to get them to pay her 5 days for the bus ride to Phoenix from DC)
So all in all I dont think its too bad a company, seems to be like every place else, you get out what you give.
Sorry for the long post
cat 500 Thanks this. -
