I know it's hard to believe but I drove my car cross country from California to Maryland 4 yrs. ago. I remember being tailgated by big rigs and I was # 95 mph trying not to get ran over. It was raining and road work was being done!!! I did not know these trucks went that fast, idiot truckers; and they were not in Swift!!!!!!!!

Ok now remember that experience once you get out on the road, so you will not do it to others. If you go with Swift you will not be able to run that fast, but if you do not remain with Swift, someday you maybe in a truck that can run fast.

    Good luck

I am still very new to trucking, but I would say 8 speeder is better and also better on fuel. Are you thinking of going owner operator?

The 10 speed is better, if you learn on the auto Trans it will be harder to get some jobs.

Really the 10 better than the 8 for fuel, but 13 and 18 better for fuel. Also best get a few years behind you before going O/O.

newbee22 and MAJIK Lady Thank this.

I Would spec my truck with 3.3x gears, 13spd, 450+hp, 22.5 tires(for the discount). Name brand is not that important, Comfort behind the wheel is(70+ hours a week will be there). That's just my .02

It's been six years for me, so hard to remember the written. The driving test out of Denver was easy. I rode with a guy in a day cab pulling a 53' van. But then again, I had 6 years under my belt when I started.
