That's right folks, it is a lifestyle.
    If you enjoy:
    1. Being gone away from home, for weeks at a time, for very little money[20 to 30 grand a year], this might be for you.
    2. If you enjoy sleeping in a metal box, in piss-soaked parking lots, you'll love it!
    3. If you enjoy being lied to, disrespected, treated like crap wherever you go, incuding by the company you work for, look no further!
    4. Just remember, it's not just a job, it's a lifestyle!
    5. Oh yeah, remember you only make money when the wheels are rolling. So when you sit somewhere for 5 to 7 days waiting for a load,...you guessed it, you are doing it for free! Or when you sit at a shipper/receiver for 12 to 24 hours, maybe the whole weekend, bingo, it's all on you pal!
But remember, you are a trucker, this is your chosen career, so enjoy!

Transflo does seem pretty nice and easy, scan it in at any pilot or terminal and get paid. A big plus to a driver if you ask me.

Newbie going to training after turkey day in Lewiston Idaho for Swift, New to OTR and just have day cab watertender drive time with an old binder, 300 big cam cummings and 13sp eaton fuller.

What I'm I in for? Plan is to learn trucking for a company then purchase or lease after I got a good bit of windshield time.

This is my last career, had a couple that I do again if I were younger but I'm not and I have always wanted to check this off my list of things I've wanted to do before I watch the grass grow in the back yard.

    Thanks for any info

Its not bad, just keep your head clean and keep the greasy side down an you'll do just fine out here on the road. Just remember every day you learn something new and be prepared for anything and everything.

Look forward to three 6-day weeks of fun and adventure. Try and get on Junior's truck for week 3 if you like to laugh.

So True it can also be an adventure
I never waited longer then 1 day with Swift for a load and then I got paid $50.00 a day (yes I could make more rolling) If I arrived at shipper/receiver on time I'd recieve detention pay up to $96.00.

How is it now with the bad economy for greenhorns entering trucking?
Been reading forums now a day and might choose Swift but is it better learn CDL-A from a local school then transfer out?

If you can pay for the school do it. If your not committed by contract to any of the "Training companies" if things don't work out your not obligated to them.
