then its changed since i went thru my mentor's truck 2 yrs ago. And the first day of the swift driving school, there was a DOT physical, UA and there was a work well course.
could this have changed? sure. But the pay hasn't. I can tell you, that the 'base figure' for student pay is just that. its a base to go off. But what i'm telling ya, and if you dont want to believe me, thats fine, but when they say "$250 a week for the first week or two" (or whatever it is) you had better see to it that you're driving. cause trust me, your first week will be $100 or so. Come back and tell me after you get your first check, and tell me i'm wrong.
been driving for Swift for almost 2 yrs....i think i know what the !#$% i'm talkin' 'bout. Not to mention, i've been platinum for a month, and gold for 10+ months before that.

Buddy of mine who was my roommate during the school, stayed with swift for about 2-3 months, then left for Weener. They picked up the tab, and gave him an insentive to stay...$500 bonus every 6 mo. he stayed (or something). But he didn't stay around there for long. Think he got fed up with the run around he got from Weener. Now he's runnin' local out of a rail head.JustSonny Thanks this. -
However you didn't read what I actually posted.
They deduct from your paycheck for the first 13 months. At that same time they refund to you half of that deduction. Then the second 13 months they continue to refund to you. So at the end of the 26 months Swift has refunded your loan payments. -
Mr. Jones, yes things have changed since you went through training 2 years ago. Things have changed since I went through my training 18 months ago.
You're not the only person working every darn day for Swift. So some of us know what the numbersign, poundsign all the keyboard signs we're talking about too.
Call a current recruiter or your school location and talk to them. That's what I do so that I can make sure what I'm telling people on this forum is accurate. -
DickJones I am glad your doing well in your job and all, but things have changed since you first started with swift. They no longer do the work well, they do still the UA and dot physical. I also went back to look at hubby's checks when he was with his mentor. This was back in April, he was paid $64.29 a day. His first full week he was paid $369.75 net.
I am not out to tell you your wrong, just things have changed. -
actually, since i'm already employed, i dont see the need to call a recruiter. =)
and actually, i dont work 'every day'. i went a month where i was off every weekend. drove mon-fri and had sat/sun. off. Mainly because after-hours and weekends, i'm planned by memphis. and i know memphis 'takes care of' their drivers first, and gives the rest of us the left-overs. So if i'm only going to get 100-150 mi runs on the weekends, or wait an hour+ for an MT trailer location or to have them fix a L-call or E-call....i'd rather just go home for the weekend.
like right now, they gave me a 700 mi run with a stop in MI that picks up on the 25th and dont deliver till the 28th. And i got that preplan about 2a...so i know memphis gave that to me. i'm not taking less than 200/day load without being backed up. (sorry, way off topic) =) -
Dick Jones has Memphis pegged dead to right.

You evidently didn't read the entire post: I suggested if you wish to give out current information you might wish to call the recruiter. And using the phrase that there are others working for Swift "every darn day" was to make the point that you're not the only one working for Swift.
However, you just keep handing out outdated information if you like.

With Swift, it is imperative that you dig as deep as you can to find the "bright spot" in anything you, or they, do. So you get a 34 restart up in Michigan...the State Bird needs more blood for his brood...and your blood must be top notch for the planners to put that load on you. (mosquito is MI State Bird BTW...LOL)
Try working with your DM to get a better load quality...when I was there...especially as a L/O...I made "friends" with planners in all other terminals...yep, I did many 200 mile or less loads to get to the point where they knew me, and knew my "running style"....after that, it was positive for my miles....and my DM didn't have to do any work. A definite "WIN/WIN" for me.
