So the way they have it set up, you could theoretically walk away after 13 months and not have a balance due, is what I'm understanding? I read the post but it seems to be a little complicated to explain without numbers and examples to demonstrate how it works.

Yes. Absolutely. The stuff that people say about how you have to work for Swift for two years is bogus. You don't have to work for them at all. It's a loan and your only legal obligation is to repay it. If you work for Swift then you pay it through payroll deductions.
Okay let me give you figures if it'll help.
You have a loan with Swift for $3900 it will be paid off in 13 months or 52 weekly paychecks.
Each weekly paycheck $75 is deducted BUT at the same time you are refunded $37.50 by Swift. So in effect Swift is paying half of your loan for you because you work for them. At the end of 52 paychecks (or 13 months) your loan is paid in full. BUT! For the next 52 paychecks that you work for Swift, Swift continues to refund you $37.50 so that at the end of that period Swift has refunded the total amount of the loan to you.
You paid in $3900 and Swift refunded $3900.
Does that make it more understandable? Sometimes I can confuse people without even trying LOL # myselfWedge Thanks this. -
Oh one other point I'd like to make: you asked if at the end of 13 months you could walk away. YOu can walk away at any point......you simply still owe the balance of the loan.
People say you're under contract to work for Swift but that's simply not true. You're under a loan agreement just like with your car loan or house loan. You agreed to pay back the money Swift loaned you for the school. -
I've found no loopholes in the loan agreement nor the arrangement. Now I do feel there are loopholes in the lease options and o/o arrangement but that's my personal opinion. -
hey guys dont mean to jump on anyones toes but Texas-Nana is 125% right on the nose as far as the school and loan process is concerned. i spoke to a recruiter 2 weeks ago and the information matches up with the info that Texas-Nana is saying. which i do want to say thank you for having up to day info with that im not trying to bash anyone bc mistakes do happen.
on another note does anyone know how long it takes for the recruiter to get me to Tennessee 2 weeks ago when i spoke to her she told me to go to swift online cdl training site and do the exams and then call her back today the 24th but this lady never seems to pick up her phone. i want to try to go to the training by the 30th my question is how long does it take to get the process rolling bus tickets etc. thanks again for any input.cookie278 Thanks this. -
call call and call again. Recruiters can be sneaky little devils to get a hold of.lionheart0901 and Texas-Nana Thank this. -
Another little trick you can use is to call the main Swift number for that recruiter's location and ask for them by name. You might have to sit on hold a while but you'll wind up talking to them.

I guess not everything has changed at Swift. Some things do stay the same.
