Now it's nearly 2 days of sitting because Georgia Pacific in Toledo, OR didn't have my load ready.

It was supposed to be ready last night, and I came in at around 0900 this morning.
I was told it would not be ready until the 18th, which is when I was supposed to deliver it.

My next load doesn't pick up until tomorrow at 0500. At least it isn't another GP load.

Wonder how I’ll fare in Phoenix, emptying out mid day on a Friday? Last time that happened I sat for three days in casa grande...

I'm surprised at all the sitting around like that. I've heard recruiters say things "we like to keep our trucks rolling for our drivers"...well then, no kidding....that's beneficial to everyone, don't ya think? What I asked was "how much should I expect to be sitting around, not what you like to do". That doesn't go over well at all, but that gives a good indication of the culture there. Sitting around in places like the American desert or the swampy air of the American southern states waiting for no reason is a good way to make your drivers go to other places for better work, so I guess that all shakes out in the end anyway.
