that's what i figured... making 30k a year is sad for OTR.
you can make that LOCAL, and sleep in your own bed every night. -
It depends but some one with 0 to 1 year trying to get a loca job and getting 30k is well not going to happen most of the time and depends where one lives I live in southern missippi local pays around 12 to 15 and hr I don't need to drive retired army e-8 but wife pass away 7 years ago and kids all gone so I enjoy otr
Skip1965 Thanks this. -
I have been solo for about 7 weeks and I am averaging 2500 to 3200 a week except when I go home I am happy with that making great $$$$ but can"t seem to get out of the East I spend a lot of time in Chicago area and Pennyslvania.
They get me home when ever I request I been staying out 3 or 4 weeks at a time I would like to get into the West, I made it to TX once since I been on my own; driver rank is gold.
There is times in get in areas with no freight and might get stuck for a day but other than that and these dam Live unloads that waste so much of your time, these place should have to pay you for wasting your time I drove 3 hrs and had to wait a whole day to deliver what bs that is, I had no choice. Ur take the load it was getting me towards home for my next pickup to go to my hometown but still is just plain dumb.
In orientation we were told 98% to 99% drop n hook I sure don't see much drop in hook lots of live loads guess I'm getting that 1% everyday still make Awsome miles though.
everyone be safe out there -
i will tell you one thing for sure you will be only making .25 cents a mile add it up
-
You wont go west to often now. Most of the loads that go west form the east get put on train, shuttle or teams/mentors. Honestly this time of year with swift its better to be east of I -35 freight tends to be stronger east coast then west, but there are a few exceptions.
