New OTR drivers will effectively get a starting pay raise from 33 to 36 cpm. They did not specifically say but I'm assuming it was a scaled raise. In other words each section of the pay scaled was raised by 3 cpm til one year then 2 cpm after a year. Also for new OTR drivers you will be ranked upon going solo and earn a weekly (again they didn't say paid weekly but calculated weekly) performance bonus. I'm a literalist, so they may pay it weekly too but they only said "earn".

Swift has a sliding pay scale.
Anything under 500 miles gets paid at a higher rate.
The lower the miles the higher the pay, in 100-150 mile increments.
Yes, that is for OTR.
Before the raise I'm making .38 CPM base. For a 149 mile (or below) load I make .51 CPM.
Loads under 100 miles get an additional $25 for short haul.
The new pay raise also includes a .02 increase on the bonus for Gold and higher ranked drivers.
I'm currently ranked at Platinum, which has a .03 per mile bonus, paid every 3 months on all miles driven (loaded and mt). That will now be .05.
Gold is .01 lower, and Diamond is a few higher. (Diamond is VERY hard to achieve)
If I maintain Platinum, with the new pay scale I will be earning a base pay of .45 CPM, including the bonus.
It is a 10% increase in pay, after a similar increase just last year. -

Diamond drivers are the ones that have maintained Platinum status for something like 3 years straight.
That is, basically, zero accidents or service failures, and drive the required number of miles per year.
They get a much higher bonus, get a brand spanking new truck every year (one of their choice, I understand), and have the fancy graphics on the truck.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
That's fair. Thanks for answering. Swift may not be the right choice for everyone, but it is for some. Swift has been good for my husband and family, and I respect all truckers, regardless of who they drive for. Stay safe

My honest opinion is I think Swift has improved greatly over the years. They are not the worst out here by far. I was thinking about going there at one point to train drivers and then realized I have zero patience! Good luck to you and your hubby. Swift isn't as bad as many make them out to be. Currently the bonus for Platinum is $0.03 per mile, paid quarterly. For a mentor like me, it amounts to about $1500-2000 per quarter. Diamond drivers must maintain Platinum status for three consecutive years, their bonus is $0.06 per mile.
It's not that difficult to hit Platinum level, I think you need to maintain something like 2000 miles per week average to get it as a solo driver. Have to be 99.5% on time or better, and I forget whether a single preventable will take you off Platinum or not. Basically, drive efficiently, be on time, communicate well with your DM, use Mac-22, etc. etc.
You also get the benefit of using Mac-30 if you are Platinum or better, that is a request for Load Offers and you can get up to three different loads to choose from. It's very helpful for keeping your wheels turning without having to wait for an overworked planner to get you a load and you can select loads that give you more miles or get you to where you want to go.OceanDan, Moosetek13 and joseph1135 Thank this.
