The simple truth is this.... If your son scanned in each BOL with a scan sheet at a truckstop or at any of our terminals then he would be getting paid. If he is not scanning in his BOL, then he will not get paid. I always tell new drivers to treat their BOL as if they are money. If he is having trouble scanning, tell him to ask another Swift driver at a truckstop or terminal and someone will help him out.
maybe he is getting paid twice ,once from swift and once from mom and/or dad. maybe he aint a stupid as all thinks.hummmm
Does he have direct deposit set up? If not, or if it isn't set up correctly, the money could be going into his Comdata account.
One think that I also do when keeping records is that I always write down the Transflo confirmation number in my notepad with the trip # beside it.
Popeye, that is too much work. Just staple the receipt to teh BOL and scan sheet. They you have everything at your fingertips. I still have all of mine going back almost 2 years. One of these days I am going to have to get off my lazy butt and clean out this truck of lots of old paperwork.
Oh I do that, but I clear them out of the truck after 90 days. I figure I will always keep the Steno book where I write down my loads and it isn't that time consuming to write one more number in the book. I don't have a home/apartment - I stay with my girlfriend during my hometime and try to limit the clutter I keep in the truck.
I don't know how many truckers afford to live and work the pay isn't that good, but if he doesn't have a family, and doesn't have a household and lives in his truck he should be ok. Maybe he should also look at his expenses while out on the road, it sucks to pinch penny's but sometimes as great as the restraunt looks you keep eating canned chilli and tuna sandwiches. I hope it is a simple fix though and his money is in his comdata account. If they are sending it to the wrong bank account because a number was put in wrong, I am not sure if he'll get the money Swift already paid.
So true. One of the better investments I made was a 40 qt cooler. I keep lunchmeat and cheese for sandwiches, cream cheese for bagels in there and try to use a truckstop only as a bathroom and shower break. Assume that you only eat two meals a day - at a truckstop that will set you back between $10 (fast food) - $20 (restaurant) per DAY... It doesn't take long to cut into your earnings by doing that. Also - If you smoke...try to stock up in KY / VA / MO. Cigarettes are much cheaper in those states. The difference in a carton can be as much as $30-$50 in other states.
