Before hiring onto my current company I did mostly Nashville to Los Angeles for about 2 years in a 65 mph truck. I had the same experience as described above. My slow truck would be passed over and over by the same fast truck and we would both wind up at the Petro in Kingman, AZ or Rip Griffins in Barstow. Faster speed is used as an excuse to stop more often. Keep the door closed and you will get there about the same time as a fast truck. There are no 100 mph truck lanes. Your fast truck will have to slow every half miles for a car or truck going slower than you in the left lane while they pass someone.

However..
Isn't there something nice about being able to stop at every rest stop if you so desire?
And..
You'd be passed over and over by the same truck and then get to the same spot because the driver of THAT truck is stopping everywhere. The trucks that only pass you once are 100-120 miles in front of you by the end of the night because their drivers kept the door closed. But you only see them once and never again because you can't catch them.Bo Hunt Thanks this. -
Schneider doesn't push leasing but theyll let you do it after 6 months. And their lease trucks aren't governed at all. At least TE at sni has to be a company driver and not a going broke L/P that needs a warm body to hold the steering wheel so he can make his payments. But sni will also limit team trucks to 65. Makes sense right? You get to sleep in a moving truck, get worse rest and you get to drive faster than I do... Hmm. Curious how that logic doesn't bother anyone. -
I work for swift and your full of it. I have a camera as well and I constantly ride 67 to 68 downhill just tapping brakes. I also call ######## on getting in trouble for going over 50 in the middle of a desert. The camera simply does not just activate on its own. We're you also holding your phone and a hotdog at the same time and forgot to shower all week? -
How exactly does swift push leasing? I went through the swinter school in Lewiston Idaho and not one single time did they mention the lease not even once. Not even once will anyone approach you trying to get you to lease, they occasionally send messages via quallcomm offering it and quite frankly you make a lot more take home pay vs company drivers.
The lease option is fair I've seen the paychecks my mentor had for solo and for training after expenses solo he takes home several hundred more per week than I currently do.
People talk so much bs about swift and have no idea, I went in skeptical but I've been pleased, I get 2800miles a week average but I do frequently get 3000 and higher weeks. All last month I was 3000-3400 miles a week.
Don't be a ######## to your driverleader and don't whine and reject every load, short runs pay more anyway. -
Apparently someone is sensitive to the fact they work a Swift. No need to overcompensate.
When I was at Swift drivers averaged around 1700miles a week company wide. Of course the ############ claimed they averaged more, but they sat in the terminal more then I did. Some claimed 2800miles, 3000miles, 4000miles but it was all BS. Driver managers would even get in on the BS and post factitious miles up on the board to reflect their fleet did better then it actually did.
67-68mph will get you fired at Swift. Drivers were even fired and DACs clocked when faulty speed sensors registered 67mph while their trucks were in driving in the terminal. Clearly a mechanical fault, but Swift took no chances and fired the drivers anyway. -

You know what guys, Leasing works for some and not for others, just like being the boss intimidates some and does't others.
One constant I see here is that a few people talk #### about this company doesn't offer that or they do but it's a bad idea. If someone says Swift pushes leasing, who are we to tell them they don't know what they are talking about.
Leasing is a great idea if the truck payments are low, but when the payments get so high that even tax writeoff's won't increase your income, then it's a bad idea.Friday Thanks this.
