Day 1. Orientation starts on Tuesday morning at 7am. The main things for this day is the road test and pee test. There is no hair follicle test. They take you to the clinic in Puyallup, WA If you have more than 90 days left on physical you do not have to get another one.

Day 2. Mostly going over swift policy and procedures and what not to do.

Day 3. This is the last day if you are a inexperienced driver you will meet your driver and go out on the road for you 200 hours behind the wheel training.

Think every terminal is differant. When i eent thru orientation dec 2012... they said med card had to be no older than 6 months and had to come from concentra.best to call the terminal you are going to and find out what they do

I don't understand why people complain about when Swift does a fresh physical.
You get a fresh card at Swifts expense, and Swift gets some added assurance.

Swift paid me $10.50 an hour for the three days of orientation which was close to that...I also made anywhere from $360 to $450+ while with my mentor. Im now team driving and my last check befor xmas was $1485 befor taxes. Lots of people talking low about Swift but im rollin hard instead of hangin out in the sleeper or wasting my time taking videos of fellow truckers having a hard time parking!!! Some of us here are fixin to be truckers while others prefer to make the fatcats at utube rich!!! Only to ##### about not getting paid!!!! Be safe out there everyone im enjoying every minute out here rollin with y'all....Happy New Year

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

You have a good attitude, but don't go overboard with it.

Running hard can be good for a time, but it might catch up with you.
At some point you may start to get burnt out from running that hard, and you will start to make mistakes.
Watch for it, because it will happen at some point.

I am known around here for being a fairly lazy driver.
That is for a good reason.
It is because I run my truck the way I want to work, without much stress or lack of sleep. I take my time.
And even so, I can maintain a Gold ranking - which is the sweet spot.

A high percentage of accidents are caused not by rookies but experienced drivers with 3-5 years in.
They get too confident and cocky in their abilities and then make mistakes that lead to accidents.

This is not all about the money, as your post seems to suggest.
It is about being a safe and productive driver.
SAFE being the productive, and essential, word!

Good morning @Moosetek13 thank you for the good words!!! Rest assured safety is my utmost concern out here!!!! I've been rescuing stranded four wheelers off the highwsys in cali for the last seventeen years and know all to well the end results of careless drivers on our wonderfull highways!!! After getting pumped in the rear by many of the wonderfull new american people from the middle east for so long it overwhelms me at times to finalky be earning a decent wage!!! Sure wish more white boys could still own a tow company or a liquor store or any one else for thst matter other than ak-mad but it is what it is!!! Anyhow just hearing others bag on Swift does get a lil old even though its all in fun hopefully!!! Once again. Be safe take care and a very happy new year to all y'all out there!!!
