I completed orientation yesterday. I actually had a great time despite a few annoyances. My orientation instructor made the class quite fun and entertaining. My classmates were good sports about it all. There was about 40 classmates in total with atleast 7 or 8 of which were experienced drivers. Although in the beginning it was a long, drawn out process; the office staff were good to work with and getting us all set up for the next phase of our employment. The road test wasn't as bad as I thought. My shifting still needs work but I got through it. Just take your time and watch your turns. 2 people went home of their own choice. I assume they felt Swift just wasn't the right choice for them. The hotel was nice. Yesterday was a long day because it was the last day of orientation and most of my class were sent home due to it being Thanksgiving that following day and not having a mentor available right away. The bus station in Atlanta was packed like sardines. I slept most of my bus trip home which was awesome.
One tip: If you have the money to upgrade to your own hotel room I would do it! Me and my roommate got along great but his snoring was atrocious. There is no mere words that could describe his snoring. I learned more about snoring than I ever thought I could in life. His snoring kept me up for practically 2 nights straight. On the third night, my body just didn't give a #### and actually got some sleep.
Second tip: Just go there with a positive mind set and not dwell on the annoyances & nuisances of people, places, and things.

Totally agree. I had a pretty decent experience with orientation as well and was fairly impressed with it. Given all the Swift hating I expected it to be haphazard and a joke but it was not. We had several people go home before lunch on the first day. Not for nothing, but when I got into driving I spent a lot of time researching what were automatic DQs, what could be a DQ, what to bring, etc. The fact that so many people showed up unprepared baffled me. Congrats and good luck.
madagascar Thanks this. -
LMAO. I was halfway expecting that because of all the Swift hate I've read thus far. I had my expectations so low that I was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought.

Lol. I have orientation scheduled on Dec 9th. Apparently for the harrisburg pa location, Swift doesn't go half on single hotel rooms like most companies do. So for me, if I want my own room, I'll have to pay full price for 3 nights, and it's at a Days Inn so Im assuming it'd be like atleast $70 per night so that's $210 down the drain. I guess the only good thing is that I'm driving my personal car to the hotel, so I guess if my roommate snores very bad, I could sleep in my car. That's an option for me because I have a hard time sleeping when someone is snoring, I can fall asleep with a tv on, or music, or a loud fan/air conditioner and pretty much anything, except for someone snoring, I just can't do it.

Good luck with your orientation in a couple of weeks. Wow, sucks about the hotel thing. The hotel used by the Atlanta terminal allows upgrade to single room for about $30 bucks a night.

From what I have seen Swift tries to do thongs correctly.
And that is after 3 years with them.
They do not pay at the high end, but I find that I can work with them - most of the time.
Mostly to my satisfaction.
I have heard the horror stories, but I have yet to experience it first hand. -
