So Kevin are you running more miles per month on your lease than is allowed as a mentor? Therefore accruing excessive mileage charges that you have to pay?

I am going to make this real simple and put my money where my mouth is (literally).

I AM interested in Swifts L/P program, but I need a bit of convincing as to why I would ever want to do it?

Going on 4 years with swift as a company driver, I am a mentor. I don't actually run that hard tho (4500 miles a week average with current student. With my last student we ran 5800-6500 in the 2 weeks he was on the truck.)

This is my pay for the last 4 weeks. I want a Swift L/O to SHOW me WHY I should step up to the next level.

Tell me how many miles you ran those weeks ... how many were loaded, how many empty/deadhead and what the extra pay was for and were any with a student ... and I can tell you what your gross/net would be as an l/o ...

But I will tell you this unless you want to run hard, not because you need to, to make it - you do - but because you are wired that way as a type A pesrsonality, you will not be happy as an l/o.

You can make more as a L/O, but i would advise you to do it the smart way. Don't lease the truck from Swift if you dont have to. SAVE your money, then find a dealer and buy your own truck. Doing it this way will save you plenty each money. Your monthy truck payment could be anywhere from $600 to $1200, and you own the truck when done. Instead of paying $2100 a month to drive a lease, then at the end of the lease, have to pay a ridiculous balloon payment. $30000 plus!!!

The downside to doing it this way, is the repair bills could run you $800 or more a month, till you get the truck running right. Something to think about. Make sure you have a cash reserve and expect the unexpected. But this isnt as bad as it seems, cause any money you spend on the truck will be tax deductable. You either pay the truck or pay UncSam!

Now if you continue to train and run around 4500mi week??? Well, you COULD bring home between $7500 and $9000 per month, after all expenses and before taxes!!!

Its a much better route! Hope this helps!

They WERE company drivers but they leased a company truck which is now considered a leased truck. I guess o/op's are permitted to run a little faster.

68mph for non company trucks, and L/O's. Some are turned up higher without Swift's knowledge.

If I was a owner OP I wouldn't have them doing my B services. Petro or others do it faster. More money, but how much money you losing sitting there waiting in a line of 14 trucks?
