Alot of the ins arent worth a crap..they charge too much for nothing..i had to get my own btail insurance..then temp tags..then dot inspection..and now Im covered by the fleets ins..
I heard % mile is way better then cpm..but does every co charge you out of that % to rent a trailer? Or is that just a few companys that do? Can you really make good $ ?
Every company I've ever leased my truck onto has sent me an insurance binder and temporary registration in order to get my truck to their shop. Annual DOT inspections were at no charge, but any actual work that needed to be done was on you...their shop wouldn't turn a wrench on your truck other than to install, maintain, or remove company-owned equipment (ie pneumatic blower). Quite frankly, I wouldn't WANT them turning a wrench on my truck beyond what they did...and if I'd known how that 1st company was going to install the blower, I wouldn't have let them do that, either (when I left, I removed the blower, loaded it into my pickup, and took it back to them). Many of these "mechanics", especially at the larger companies, are hacks. These companies don't want to pay for real mechanics, and they get exactly what they pay for...much like drivers. Nope. If they want to inspect...especially if it won't be charged back to me...they can inspect. They cannot (I won't allow it) put a wrench on it, though. If you're going to charge me for the inspection, I'll exercise my rights under the federal leasing regs to have that service performed elsewhere.
Do you need an EIN for a 2290 if your an owner op with your own paid off truck? Also..if you get it in paper form..who do you send it to?? And how do you pay?
