You'd probably need a manager to sign off on that, if then.

I still dont get why the companies won't install APUs, they dont want to invest in them for a truck they cycle out after 3-4 years, but how much work is it to remove off of the old truck and install on the new one? They can just keep the same APU running for 2 or 3 truck trade in cycles.

What don't you get about 'not cost effective'?
However small the margin is, they deemed them as a loss overall. End of story.

I get the not cost effective over 3 or 4 years, but fuel savings should be pretty close to break even after probably 5 or 6 years, right?

Talk to Swift about it, not the peanut gallery.
Swift would use them if they saw a profit in it.

    Again... end of story.

I ran the numbers about 8 years ago ... I think I came up with a 10 year pay back. Considering the only thing I would need an APU for would be AC, it would have limited use throughout the year.

I use a cpapand was able to find a 12 volt adapter for it but I just plug into the outlets and use it. I can run the truck all day but if the weather is nice I will shut it down and I have never had an issue I even run the tv at night

    CalculatedRisk and dptrucker Thank this.
