Ok just got off the phone with my recruiter and she has no clue of anything...She had told me awhile ago I should qualify as a driver with exp. and now today she tells me I will be put with a mentor...I said wait a min. why Iam I being told a different thing from what you said before? I have a copy of my dac (from hireright.com) which will show you my exp. and according to you I am concider a exp. driver!? now a mentor..ummm ok I could use a little refresher..I am a bit rusty..how long I ask..200 + hours? wtf...I will probably have more exp. then my so called mentor(6 monther) ok, ok ok I know I have to get my feet wet again..but come on 240 hrs..no f n way.
I really didn't ask my recruiter too many questions, because I researched and researched before I made the call. Although, mine told me at first, I would not get experience pay if I had to go back to school, but if I pass the road test, I get experience pay, then get told no experience pay at all because starting with mentor. Oh well, have to start over somehow. Although, if we wanted to, we could blame it on other things, considering you're from the Austin area, and I'm from the College Station area.
oh ok ! So did you have to double clutch thru the road test? any info would be nice...mama swift where r u? lol just giving you a bad time...what do you think?
I'll let you know.....taking the road test Tuesday in Lancaster, but it sounds like finding a tester that will let you float is very few and far between.
Swift expects you to double clutch. Your best bet is just try to remember how. If you want to simulate it, put your foot on the clutch and dip your ankle down so your knee moves. Unless your tester has a squeaky clutch, he or she won't be able to tell the difference. But...if you're going to simulate the clutch, don't grind any gears.
Most likely if you got verified experience-you should only have to do 100 hours which comes to around 2 weeks. Thats what i had to do--it went by fast. It more or less so you will know the swift way of doing things. Good luck!
Ok, since we are addressing Swift recruiters. How reputable are they? Can you trust their word? I have been in contact with one, who says that with my lack of OYR experience and 21+ years of local. I would spend 2 weeks with a mentor, then could go Regional Solo for 38CPM. Is she blowing smoke?
I just spoke with recruiter today just for info. I have my CDL but no exp.,was told 3 day orientation (Harrisburg,PA) 240 hrs with mentor (2-4 wks) 450.00 wk gross when out with mentor. And when and if you upgrade she said I could go solo NE regional (.35 cpm) trips under 299 mi. = .6cpm Lay over - Ithink she sais 50.00 every 24hrs Detention- 16 hrly after 2hrs I do see alot of Swift's equipment in my area (Phila,PA) Trailers seem to be good condition. Is this recruiter just blowing smoke? She said they need NE regional drivers. Thanks for any info
