    VoIP probably, but who knows what the techies might have sold them last week. If they’re that hard to communicate with it’s probably a good thing you’re not trying to find out why your pay cheque is all ####ed up.

    If they’re that concerned about his employment status they should just hire him and then they’d know. They want a driver or another pile of paper for suits and skirts to pass around for a while?

    Yeah, but that's the way companies do it here in the states. That's a federal law, not a trucking company rule.

    It's just another way to get SOME verification about what you were doing when you don't a W-2s and employer confirmations. You can give YOUR tax info to anyone you like. Privacy doesn't mean YOU CANNOT DISCLOSE your info, it means the IRS cannot disclose it, except for certain reasons and following specific procedures.
