"To qualify, company drivers need to have a minimum of 12 months’ experience and no more than five jobs in three years. They must maintain a 2,000 mile per week rolling average over several weeks, with exceptions for vacation and breakdowns." Unfortunately it doesn't work for me as I am entry level. Seems like a good idea for a company though.
I saw a Swift recruiter at a truck stop probably 20+ years ago. I don’t know why we conversed, as I was not looking for a job, but he told me then that he could only hire about one out of every 17-18 applications because of drugs or background. No wonder there is so much animosity towards them. I can only imagine now.
@Chinatown Many of these companies don't seem to have terminals that show up in google maps in Southern California. Should I apply to them?
Yes, apply to all of them. Just because there's not a terminal nearby, doesn't mean you're not in the hiring area.
Do the online apps. from each website before calling. This way, the companies know you're serious because you took the initiative to supply the information before calling. Most applications only want what you've been doing the previous 3 yrs. Ten years is required for a trucker with past experience as a cdl driver.
