You didn't upset me, I was just trying to point out that your premise of them having "the worst safety record" was inaccurate. It is true that Swift drivers make dumb moves. But, so do SNI, Werner, Roehl, May, Crete, independent O/O, etc. I had an O/O make a u-turn from the right shoulder of the interstate, across two west bound lanes, down through the median and across two eastbound lanes because he missed the interstate split rather than going on west one mile to the overpass and making a safe move. Reason it seems Swift drivers make more dumb moves is that there are a lot more of them out there then anyone else. If 5% of the drivers for any company make dumb moves, 5% of 18,000 (approximate number of Swift drivers) is 900 drivers. 5% of 3,000 drivers (many other companies approximate numbers) is 150. I think I have a greater chance of seeing the 900 as I do the 150. It is just simple math.

Maybe that is why the FMCSA needs to mandate more road training before being given a CDL. Too many are coming out here, getting licenses and then trying to drive a big rig the way they used to drive their personal vehicle. It just doesn't work.

I totally understand what u are saying. I do agree that they need to step in and do something about the training.

Hey LP45CDwoman I was just checking to see if you had taken the TCC trucking class yet. I went there and finished May 9th..last month. Im currently looking for a good Trucking company to start out with. I have a prehire from Werner but I read alot of posts about that company and they weren't too good. Let me know how things are going.

I'm looking at starting the TCC course on the 4th of August. Be careful with Werner--they have the Dollar General stores, and their drivers appear to be required to unload the freight (non-palletized) themselves.:biggrin_25525:

Actually, of the two "dollar" store accounts, Dollar General or Family Dollar, I have heard Dollar General is the better of the two as it is in roller cases that are rolled off the truck into the store. Family Dollar is individual box-by-box unload and the last they told me is you get $65.00 for each trailer you unload. That isn't very much since I know there are lumper services out there that charge twice that and get it no questions asked.

pawpaw is right. Dollar General is on rolling containers and the only responsibility for the driver is to get it into the back door and load up the empties and go. There are normally 3 stops per load. I have a relative that manages a Dollar general and he tells me that the district that he's in, Swift and Werner both share the account. Most of the drivers tell him that they love that account.

I'm not a company man but I will respond. You ought to read and do a little research before you go out on a limb. Swift's safety record is much better than most (go to the SafeStat website to prove this for yourself). Ripoffreports has been sued and lost for slander and lible (and sometimes fabricating the stories).

    jenbri1994 Thanks this.
