We had unemployment pay for most of the training. Government sponsored program for retraining people. If the county you are in is out of money, ask them when they get more. They will tell you. Paid $3500 out of $5000 tuition at Roadmaster. Then went with a company after that. Stevens pays a portion of the remaining tuition, we pay the other portion.

Have you considered Knight Refrigerated? They have a training program called Squire. You have to go to school first, then you train under Squire Refrigerated. The first 30 days you drive with a trainer. Then you solo for the next 90 days in your own truck after which you are hired by Knight Refrigerated. The pay is 400 per week during training. When you start solo driving, you get paid .27-.36 (sliding scale) the 1st 10k miles, .28-.37 the 2nd 10k miles, and .29-.38 the last 10k. After you graduate from Squire Refrigerated and hired by KR, then your pay will be .33-.42 cpm.
Under their program all miles with the trainer are SOLO, you do not run team.
Give them a call, their located in Phoenix, AZ but hire just about anywhere.
PM me for more info if you are interested.
BTW, I am a Squire Trainer.
