Thanks surferpaulie. That's great you will be there the same time. I guess we will go through orientation together. I think we made the right choice. I will say we could have done much worse!. See you in Dallas!:biggrin_255:

The Roadmaster school in Columbus is very good. The instructors are there to train you to pass the tests and get your CDL license. Let me be really clear about the Columbus Roadmaster School, you will pass your CDL license exam. The instructors job is to teach you enough to pass the state exam and that they certainly do. The motto there is failure is not an option! Consequently you will pass! Roadmaster does a good job of getting you placed with a trucking company too. The Ohio commercial driving exam station happens to be on the same property as Roadmaster training facility. The recruiter there (Randy) was nice enough to let me sit in on some of the different trucking company recruiting lectures before I enrolled. The equipment you train in is adequate. This whole trucking thing is completely new to me and a huge career change so I tried to be diligent in my investigating the different schools as well as trucking companies. I looked at the school as an investment and to get some return in my career change. It can be frustrating at times because one thing I have learned in looking into all of this is that there seems to be an abundance of complaining! As a matter of fact if I were to take for face value what many say in these forums I would wonder why anyone would go into trucking as a profession! I think it will be suitable for me. If you decide on Roadmaster you will not be disappointed in their training. Best of luck to you!

    KCJ,
Yes it will be good to know someone upon getting there for orientation. Are you gonna take the bus or fly in from Ohio? I already bought my airline ticket cuz the recruiter that I have been speaking to, Don, said that Stevens will reimburse you, up to $200, for your airline ticket. So I got that goin for me already. As a matter of fact, Don is the very same guy that came to Roadmasters here in KC to speak to our class. Also, I agree with you and your input to channel 19 about Roadmaster. They teach you from the word go. They teach you, help you and encourage you to do what you are there for. Anway, see you in Dallas.

    KCJ Thanks this.

    Suferpaulie,
I am following your lead on the plane ticket. Thanks! Sure beats the scenic bus ride!:biggrin_25521: I did not know you went to Roadmaster. Cool! They are a decent outfit. I will see you in Dallas.
