Alright, just got off the phone with him. He turned in his gear and has a receipt for it. He also had them sign off on his truck when he left it. He turned in all of his trip packs and logs and had no advances.

He said the money was shown on his check as deductions that went into his school loan section. His taxes were taken out first and then the entire checks went to the school loans.

He was with the company 11 months but had been paying on his school loan for only 8 of those months because they didn't take anything out his first 2.5-3 months. So he still owed right around $1,000 or so and they took every dime he was owed on his last two checks.

Somehow that doesn't seem right to me. It'd be nice if Wes, a terminal manager, could shed some light on the subject.

Yea that would be an excessive amount for advances but to be honest I have seen it done at another company. Guy hit Vegas and went hog wild then told his wife that the company messed up his pay lol.

With trip packs its like most places if it doesn't get turned in or gets lost you don't get paid for that load. I don't know what account you guys where on or how your pay was set but just for points sake... Lets say you got 250$ per load. You quit and forgot to turn in your last three trip packs they are sitting in some obscure corner of the truck. That's 750$ just sitting there and I would be willing to bet that if the truck gets detailed before another driver gets into it the clean up crew is probably going to just toss them for trash not knowing what they are. Even if another driver gets into the truck there's no guarantee that he will turn them in or for that matter even throw them away just for meanness.

/shrug I'm just tossing some ideas out there that might explain it.

Well look at the bright side at least he's free and clear of the loan now. It might cause some hardship in other areas but its probably worth it just to be said, done, and over with.

2000. And it's a post about my favorite trucking company, SwiftQuit'em.

That guy was an idiot for quitting so close to the finish line. If that offends anyone, too bad. The truth hurts. And I have no sympathy for one who'd screw himself up with such idiocy. If he could make it 11 months there, one more month should have been easy. It's back to 6 months' experience for him, as he doesn't yet have a year in. And the icing on the cake is that last month may be nearly over with, if it's not already....

    What a moron.

Considering he left for a local job that gets him home every night and off on weekends that pays about 90% of what he was making with Swift every week, I think he made out alright. I'm considering doing the same thing, actually. Since he lives in my area and I'd be eligible for the same job.

The problem doesn't have a ###### thing to do with his pursuit of another job, he had one lined up before he left. But thanks for weighing in and being a total douche about it.

That is correct, the money is owed. The principle is if its owed, they will take it out of his pay. The others probably quit just after payroll was processed, so it would have taken a bit longer for payroll to catch it. That being said however, if the driver calls payroll and says that he would like his money back, and to set up a payment schedule for the remaning balance, they may work with him.

Ah, NOW you tell us why he quit. Based on your earlier sad-sap posts, I assumed this guy shot himself in the foot. Don't be a dunce. Tell the whole story up front next time.

I'll stand on my original claim--the guy was a total moron for quitting early and then being upset by the fact he still has to pay his loan. A deal is a deal. He should have known better.

I don't think I would have told anybody that. I would have kept that to myself if I were a psuedo-recruiter for JerryCo.

Hmmm. You yourself are getting screwed by SwiftQuit, yet you keep on saying feel-good things about 'em. Your friend has just quit this great company with 11 months under his belt and only one month short of completing his contractual obligation. He preferred to push the ejection seat and escape rather than finish up there. Sounds like a great outfit to me. I'm convinced. Sign me up today!

The icing on the cake? He is now ######## about having to pay Swift some kind of compensation, which Swifty is entitled to. It's in the fine print, just read it.

What is wrong with you guys? Is Swifty handing out stupid pills to its drivers now? Pills that make them dumb and blind?

Some of us here aren't stupid, nor are we blind. Again, I would have never admitted to the above.

    Too-da-Loo!

Well, considering the fact that you can't pronounce my name correctly, I'm not worried about it. I don't see VICKW hiding who he is.

####, you're right. I added an 'h' there. Now I feel like a thousand needles are piercing me all over. Shame on me. (I'm playing a very small violin now).
