    we tested on day cabs.
while i was waiting for my mentor i took a close quaters class, used a volvo for that. the larger volvos they have are really nice.

    Hello everyone,
I have been BZ as usual...I am in Bordentown, NJ at an Idle-air cause it was the only place I could find to park. The good thing was that I hooked up my laptop to check the boatload of e-mails. Glad to see everyone getting on the road. The freight has been slow and I had a couple of mechanical problems with the truck. They replaced the parking valves on the dash...they were worn out; after that driving to a consignee in Tewksbury, Mass I lost the speedo and my cruise control. They had to replace the speedometer sensor on the tranny. Then today the fuel gauge was stuck on full...I took a ball-peen hammer and tapped on the sending unit on top of the tank and unstuck the dam thing. Last time I filled the pump ran so slow it topped the tank and must have stuck the float to the top of the tank?

After its all said and done things are getting easier every day. My best advice is do carefull planning on your calls. Make sure you get all your directions to your shipper and consignee's before you start rolling. Pay close attention to your available time s you don't run up against the clock and try to remember to plan for a place to park for the night. Also before you walk inside to your shipper have all your purchase orders and pertinent info before going inside.....trailer and truck number etc...

Well gotta get some sleep and start rolling tomorrow. Don't forget....drive fast and reckless...HA!

    take care

    Brent

p.s. brink a ball-peen hammer, vise grips and some good work gloves. When you are moving tandems many times the release lever won't stay in position so you can use the vise grips to lock the bar in the open position; otherwise you'lll have to find someone to help you. The WD-40 helps also to lubricate the rails. You will have to move the tandems when you scale a load. It is required on al loads over 35,000 and when you do a "T-Call" (transfer call) You have to have a legal scale ticket...not to mention the weigh stations may not have a sense of humor. I ran into 5 weigh stations today...Phew!
