Freightliner most storage space and has passSmart feature to help pass other vehicles easier. I find them to be the bumpiest on the road due to Swifts no air ride on trailers, it's brutal at times on the back.
Volvo newer ones have refrigerator and freezer, smoothest ride of all trucks, less storage space.
International I have not ran at Swift but I hear most time in shop is usually in one of these, I don't like them look wise, lots of space I hear.
Kenworth haven't driven one at Swift, I don't like the newer ones with extended hood mirrors lots of accidents involving these because they stick out beyond the hood.
Overall the Freightliner cascadia is better all around truck unless you prefer Volvo comfort over some extra speed and storage. All the newer trucks have large inverters built in 1800-2000 watt, I have fridge freezer microwave and grille running off mine. I swapped into a newer Volvo and it's nice but I miss the passmart in the freightliner.Sixela918 Thanks this. -
All the trucks should have PassSmart, my International does.
It works a bit differently than the Cascadia, but the result is the same.
The thing I really like about the Cascadia is the drivetrain.
DD15/DT12 combo is the best out there.
If I ever get my million mile truck, it will be a Cascadia.Sixela918 Thanks this. -
Kw is junk in the shop every month. Moved over to freightliners hasn’t been in the shop for a year except for pm
Sixela918 Thanks this. -
Oh and the freightliner has a far superior jake brake and cruise control system, the Volvo engine pulls for crap. I'd pick a freightliner if I was back at the yard.Sixela918 and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
The only thing about the Cascadia cruise control that I didn't like was that it would go into coast mode just before I was cresting a hill.
I would lose 10mph real quick unless I hit the pedal.
That is a minor thing compared to the LT I am in now with the Cat engine and Eaton auto.
With the cruise set at 65, this thing will take every chance to coast down to 63 before it will gun it back up to 65.
Holding down the pedal makes no difference.
Trucks behind me just LOVE that.
And I can't just lower the set speed down by 2 to maintain my downhill speed, and then increase it back again when I want.
If there is a vehicle in front of me closer than 1/4 - 1/2 mile it will not let me bump the speed up.
And it doesn't start to brake down until I am about 4 over what it is set at.
I have to cancel the cruise and manually control my speed if I want to resume my set speed anytime soon.
Very irritating.
The truck itself has been the most reliable International I have had (this is the third), aside from the bunk heater and beeping issues.
3 shops have worked on the heater, and it still doesn't work correctly.
And unless I use the battery shut off switch it will beep at me over and over again every 30-60 seconds or so.
Only when it is shut off. When the engine is running there is no beeping, except sometimes for the first few minutes.
I have never met an International that didn't have some kind of irritating problem.SoulScream84 and Sixela918 Thank this. -
it doesn't really matter to me which truck I drive.
as long as it's not in shop that much.
seems the prostar I had had a recall every time I went into service it.
not every truck will have a fridge. 20 and newer should have one
all have an inverter.
I am in a 20 Cascadia right now and have had no issues with it yetSixela918 Thanks this. -
I'm in a 20 cascadia right now with my mentor. I like it, but I have no experience in any of the others.
