Again, you have to look at the forest. And use history. If a couple of drivers claim a company is rotten to the core, you can be skeptical. When 500 say that company sucks, well...

    Tip, I agree with you 100+%, but in this particular instance, if I were a newbie or one who did'nt bother researching claims that people post. I would have come to a conclusion that;

    1. Swift was involved in fraud. (false)

    2. Swift hires illegals (false..or at least it has not been proven to be true nor would they have a reason to). A lot of people get this issue really confused because Swift actually has a financial interest in TransMex (Mexican Carrier) and they DO use drivers from that entity to bring freight over the border into the U.S. the same with us American drivers that take freight into Otay Mesa (Mexico). There is nothing illegal about that.

    3. Swift is into Bribery and issuing fake green cards. Again false information. What would it benefit a company of that size to commit such acts if they already have clearance from the Feds to bring their TransMex trucks over the border into the U.S. Why would they even need green cards if they are allowed to pull freight outta Mexico WITH Mexican drivers legally.

    4. Swift hires Mexicans or Illegals that cannot speak english. WoW. This is surely a strech. While I worked at Swift, we did have Mexican drivers and from what I could tell they were Mexican-Amercan. Did some of them not speak proper English?? Of course, but as far as running into a driver that could not speak or hold a conversation in English...I personally did'nt run into any. Look at it this way, we have citizens right here, not just in the trucking industry, but in every industry where there are employees that don't speak proper English...Just go check out your local fast food restaurant or local WalMart. But does that mean these employees are not legal?

All I was saying is the claims that "mannmk7" made were very irresponsible lies or exaggerations of the truth and as an experienced driver (if he is exp.) he should leave his personal "beefs" out of the conversation. If he would have said "Swift pay sucks or Swift's training isn't the best out there" I would have no "beef" at all with the post, but to outright post unverifiable information that can be proven to be false is intentionally misleading all the young drivers out there. Again, I have my gripes with Swift, but I will ALWAYS give the facts to the best of my knowledge both good and bad and if it's just heresay I won't post it until I can verify it for myself.

I wouldn't worry about those rumours. What I'd worry about is the turnover and my own odds of doing well at an outfit. If I were getting in to trucking today, I'd want a company I could go to work for and stay with for many years. I wouldn't go to work at some 'training' company where I'd be biding my time until I get my year in, only to then fly the coop. I'd need something more than an outfit with high turnover.

Hey Tip. I dont really want to argue with you, but i have to ask what your personal beef is with swift? Did a dm come to your home and screw your wife, kick your dog, drain your pool and burn your garage down or what?

Just about, Albatross. Acutally, if I added all the stories together from others I've read just on this site, they'd sum to a person who had all that happen to him and more.

Well I'm going to Swift as well. If you are right about them. I'll have the honesty to come back and admit you are right about all things Swift and "Tip" my hat to ya.

'Tross, go in with the best attitude you can have and it may work out. I hope it does. Try your best there, each day, every day. If you catch any flack from anybody, write it off and look forward to tomorrow. This means you may have to be somebody's doormat for a little while. Maybe a long while. Some of us ex-Swifty's won't do that, which is why we're now EX-Swift drivers.

Come back and tell us how it goes.

Thank You for your thoughtfull reply. I hope to have a laptop before I go but if not I'll keep a journal to post when i can. I'll post the good and bad, and I'll go in with a good attitude and see where it gets me.
    Good luck to me:biggrin_25526:

If 500 drivers of a 15000 truck fleet says the company sucks that dont even raise an eyebrow for me. Now if 500 drivers of a 1000 truck fleet says it sucks well......

    Tip -
I don't think anybody is arguing that Swift is a good company to work for. What LostnJax and I are trying to point out is that these particular claims made by one individual on this forum are without basis in provable fact.

And he refuses to offer up any evidence.

To make matters worse for himself, he's flat out rude when he's asked for evidence or proof - and told why we don't believe him without it.

So, what it boils down to - in this particular instance - is we have a trucker who acts like a 2-year-old and doesn't like to be challenged. Nothing else. Anything he says about any company at this point is automatically assumed to be complete and utter fabrication - whether it's absolute truth or not.
