Well, that would greatly depend on the outcome of the upcoming election I suppose (I won't delve into that topic on this thread). I'd like to believe an industrial era will return to the US that would trigger economic growth. Companies would see the error of their ways and stop outsourcing jobs to other countries for cheap labor, but to be honest I don't see that as logical thinking of the nations business leaders until it's too late. I understand that it's more cost effective in the short term, but when your cutting jobs from manufacturing in the country that you expect the same people to be buying the products in...it seems counter productive because in the long run the people won't have the money to spend on the products because they are under/unemployed. It's a vicious cycle.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ lol......I Goggled jerkwad so now I know what you're calling me; this is what Urban Dictionary shows: "Jerkwad - A Variation of Asswad. An #######, unsavory character, cheapskate. Origin: Refence to a piece of Toilet paper used during Male Masturbation. " Geeze, that's hilarious. You've called me that several times , so from now on I will know what you're referring to.
What's wrong with Swift Fontana? Think I am going there October 3rd. Anything I should worry about? Asked for Utah or Idaho training just because I haven't been to those locales but they wanted to keep me in Ca. I reside in Bay Area. How is the training there?
They probably want to keep you in CA because that is where you have a license. It will save you the trouble of getting your CDL in a different state and then having to transfer it again, which can be a royal pain in the behind in many states. If you are in the Bay Area you might train in Lathrop, which isn't very far away. Someone will chime in if Lathrop doesn't train, because I'm not really sure.
Yeah figured so. I usually try to avoid southern cal all costs ...parking lot nightmares... It's an old post but OP wanted to avoid Fontana and go to Phoenix. Just wonder why... Bad rap? Hope not. Just want to jump in, learn all I can and hit the road for a long while
Well in any case, no one is going to Fontana anymore. It was shut down years ago. Now it is Jurupa Valley terminal, right next to the Mira Loma terminal. It's a bit larger than Fontana was, but it feels just as cramped. I often opt to pay for parking at the TA or Petro just so I don't have to go in there. The last time I was down there I avoided fueling until I got to the TA, then I called for fuel. The fuel receipt saves me the parking fee. I try to avoid SoCal as well. I don't like it down there.
Last time I was there the freeways were parking lots... Made the mistake of driving through during rush hour (5 hours) I just looked up the pdf recruiter sent me and it says Fontana (TDA1) School Info and located at 9951 Banana Ave, Fontana, CA 92335. Thought it might be Truck Driving Academy (they got 3 in California and several others around country) but google says it's Swift Trucking School. Are you a swift driver? My first start into trucking. Was set to go with Prime but got turned down for employment history (was stay at home dad for last 5 years) and self employed handyman gc before and during that. Kids in school now so time to hit the road and bank $$$ to build house
Yup, still at Swift. And as far as I know the terminal on Banana (Fontana) is totally shut down. Someone, am I wrong about that? Your employment history might be a problem at Swift as well. I had a period of unemployment before joining Swift. I was living with my sister at the time and living off some inheritance money. She wrote a letter, and had it notarized, that I was with her during that time. They will need something to verify where you were and what you were doing during those times. A notarized letter from a family member, friend or customers that you had would do that.
As far as I know, they run an academy out of Banana now. No more bussing so cal folks to phx. Too bad, I had a nice experience at the phx academy. It was like shipping out to boot camp. Except the legacy suites were not as nice as barracks.
