Hey Ford I have been reading your posts and following you all the way through the Swift experience... in fact when I got to Lewiston I requested Bob as my road instructor... I have to admit he is not afraid of taking people down very tight roads and very tight corners. But as for me I have decided not to drive truck.

I woun'dt have a problem driving, but i am curious, your at the academy for three weeks, then your OTR with mentor for 6-8 weeks, right? so how do you get your vehicle back home?

You are put on a Greyhound bus to go to school...and back. and again to orientation if you dont want to drive. They will pay for the gas (up to the price of a bus ticket) if you want to drive your own car to school.

Right now, my personal car sits at the terminal i'm out of.

I drove to the academy for school. After the academy i had 10 days off at home before orientation/mentor. I drove home, and then to the terminal for orientation. My personal truck is currently at the terminal, and I will have someone go with me to pick it up when i have home time. It's not like I really need it right now!

    Oregongrown,

You'll be going to the Lewiston school, they pay for your motel but not for your food, you will be charged a seating fee, but that is it besides your $3999. for school that will be deducted from your check after you complete your training with your mentor just as described in the letter you quote above.

I, too, live in Oregon and attended the Lewiston school, one of the better ones. After you complete school you'll go down to Ontario Or and take you drive test there. My home terminal is Lewiston and find it one of the better ones as far as personnel and support for drivers, actually all of the Northwest Terminals rank pretty high in my estimation. Although, there are some pretty good ones scattered out across the USA.

Work Hard, pay strict attention to your backing exercises at school and with you mentor and you'll do fine.

Well i went to the one in san antonio tx
and graduated it was pretty cool not as bad as you think
the first you pretty much get ready for the written test
the next week you start learning how to back up like stright backing, off set, alley docking, and parellel parking
then you learn how to shift then on the road with crazy instructors (really fun specal if you are in groups and the other guy doesn't know how to drive hahaha
