The same reason the last three times I looked at a clock it was 9:11 or 11:11.

The same reason the other person passes the intersection and the light is always red

It is obvious, either he is just "dee dee dee", or he is just trying to pretend he dont get it, in some desperate attempt to get people all upset.........lets just hope its the latter.

WOW, this is really starting to not sound like a trucker's forum. Starting to sound more like one of those other forums I can't stand where everyone is trying to be mr. tough guy behind their keyboard. Any possibility we can get back to the info and knowledge swapping from truckers any time soon?

Here is another way of looking at it. When the Sun is up, there isnt such a thing as a 'moon', and when the moon is up, there is no such thing as a "sun".

I would rather get used to the weight and feel of a truck in good weather as a trainee before getting into areas where the weather may doom my career before it even gets started.

Many companies don't give second chances for experienced drivers let alone trainees. The last time I trained I had to take a driver to the Grey dog just for busting a tire on a jersey barrier. Some drivers take longer then others to develop the skills need to drive a CMV safely and putting them in snow and ice so soon is IMO very risky.

In todays trucking a driver needs to reduce their exposer to risks because the companies policy's dictated by their insurance carriers can put you on the sidelines for 6mo's to a year for even a minor accident.

I've got no problem with eventually driving in bad weather. I know it is part of the game. The trick is not to white knuckle it, as a previous poster said, but also you have to have some level of being comfortable with the truck and getting use to the rythym of doing business.

That being said, I also think it is a good idea to get the student/rookie some experience on a skid-pad and the feelings they get under their butt when the truck starts to skid. Granted this skid-pad would cost a company a few million bucks, but how much do 30 trucks cost to replace??

I think the level of difficulty should start out with zero....i.e. running in perfect sunny weather, to driving in high winds, then driving in rain, driving in heavy rain, driving in heavy rain with high winds, and THEN go to driving in snow, driving on ice....then top it all off with driving in ice and snow. So far i am only up to driving in flurries. that really dont count as snow. =)

You make some good points. One other point I will make, and it was taught in our orientation (both times for me), only drive on ice long enough to get to a safe place to park and do it real slow with your flashers on.
