I turned wrenches briefly at an oilfield outfit early in my career. To say the new guys were hard on trucks was an understatement. I've seen, on 2 seperate occaissions, clutches so burnt the intermediate plate was cracked in half and the clutch discs were warped at least 2 inches. I've even seen several transmissions with the sliding clutch dog teeth milled down to tiny little nubs.
Oh and these trucks had 100k KILOMETERS or less on them!
