Sonny........I actually laid my head on the steering wheel and cried during my test. LOL My tester patted my shoulder and said "there there would you like a boiled egg and a coke?" I swear......I attract weird people.

Now as far as the OP......
dude said he had what like 50 years experience? Heard all the bad things about Swift but needed a job? Isnt it funny how "bad" a company might be, but when push comes to shove, its that very same company you NEED, because you NEED some sort of income? Question is, if you've read all the 'bad' posts on the company, and have seen "i can make more money flippin' burgers"....i'm wondering why you didn't just go flip burgers??
Getting into a truck with that many miles, then being told 'oh it needs b-service'....well i'm sure the terminal 'forgot' about the truck since nobody was in it. and if the previous driver manager was any good, s/he'd have seen it was close and would have flagged it for the shop to pick up and service anyway. So it would be DONE for the next driver. Dont know what terminal you were at, but i've had my current truck since new. I've done b-service 4-5x at Columbus, OH. NEVER once did it take longer than 6 hrs. (then again, they have their own seperate shop, and have 2-3 guys working on each truck..and they crank out about 10+ trucks each day) Once, had it done in New Boston, MI...that took 6-8 hrs, and once in KC, KS. That one took 10+ hrs., and the truck left with more problems than it went in with. Not to mention that shop is KNOWN to get trucks in, and they end up sitting a day before even being looked at.
If you go thru orientation, you are given a driver handbook. If you failed to read it, and KNOW that if you sit for 24 hrs without a load, you are entitled to layover pay. yeah its only $50, but still something. Whos fault is that, that you didnt read the manual, and were taken advantage of? You think a judge is going to stop a trial and give a newbie lawyer tips on when to 'object'? You should already know.
There was a couple that went thru the school i went thru....they ran team after they upgraded to their own truck, then started to lease one. They ended up quitting (forget why...they had a NICE run...coast to coast, most every trip, and got to drop loads at yards 90% of the time) and going to Stephens Txport. They were SO UNHAPPY they quit swift because at Stephens, they said they only had like 10 terminals across the country, couldn't take a load home, had to park on the yard, but couln't drop the load off your trailer, and other things they were not happy with. I've heard from several drivers who quit to go to work for another company, and they regret leaving swift.
Now i'm not saying Swift is the best company to work for, dont have any problems, blah blah blah. i AM saying, that they aren't nearly as bad as some come on here to complain about. But if you notice, those who work for swift, who come on here to complain about the company, are ones who were let go.scottccal Thanks this. -
