Relax and concentrate on getting that CDL in your pocket...then start bugging the recruiter for a spot. You haven't said where you are from...that will greatly reflect on how long to get an orientation date. Give us a little more info and we can possibly help a little more. -
I'm in Ohio.. I contacted the local Swift terminal (Columbus, OH) without saying my name, or anything to verify that they havent "setup" orientation dates yet for May. So i'll be calling them next week as thats when the guy said they should have the dates setup.
I'm hoping I actually get on at Swift, or Boyd Brothers(Flatbed, $1,000 sign on bonus).
Swift said I was pre-screen approved I guess, and I havent heard anything from Boyd Brothers yet. -
Hey all,
I have another ? It's not only related to swift, but either Swift, USA Truck, and Boyd Brothers..
I'm overweight, and from what I am seeing I will need a sleep study. I am pretty sure I dont have sleep apnea.. However.. Should I have the sleep study done before going to an orientation, or wait until orientation, and have them send me? Will they send me home, or do I just go to the sleep study in their town, while in orientation?
Also, do these companies actually verify employment? I havent lied or anything, but I dont want to go to orientation, and then get sent home just because one of my past employers dont call them back, or something.
Do they verify employment before you come to orientation, or during?
Thanks -
You will only need a sleep study if it is a company policy. There is no regulation saying that you need one at this point.
All of the company's will verify employment. They have too, it is a regulation for the industry.
If they do not get a call back from one they will be fine though. They just do not want to see any gaps. If you have gaps in employment you will need to have paperwork to verify anything you can. If it was a long gap they will want letters from people that live near you to verify that you were not working. -
I dont have any DOT employment.. It's all just retail stores.. and not small ones, the big chains thats why I was wondering about the verification..

Does not matter if it was driving or not. If it is not driving they need like 5 years.
If it is driving they need 10 years. -
Any idea whether they verify that before orientation, or after?
