Nice post DuraCell ... I enjoy reading posts that contain facts and timelines ... a few people love to post opinions but rarely have the facts.

I hate to keep bringing this up, BUT to everyone that is posting about the whole "Millington Swift school CDL debacle", let me add that the state of Tennessee, is not making any amends for anyone, and that includes me, at all, and I have been talking to someone high up on the food chain, letting them know that I have been driving for a good while, I just used that school for a refresher of sorts. I'm not someone who just up and decided to one day say, "hey I want to go drive a truck".

The last tidbit of information I got from from the lady I spoke with was that a letter is being drafted and put together for them to disseminate to either the companies that have these drivers, and/or being mailed to the address listed on the drivers license in question. Supposedly this letter is to allow or potentially allow the driver to "request that his/her cdl driving privledges be cancelled", and upon being faxed back to Tennessee supposedly this will let someone there update the information within the computer system, which will ALLOW the driver to retake whatever portion of the test needs to be taken.

Thanks to the holiday weekend, the legal department being off Friday, I will not know anything about this letter until next week sometime, and hopefully before I get home. That being said, I am on day 5 of "unpaid, non-moving, unwanted and un-asked for nightmare holiday."

Whatever has happened between the state of Tennessee and Swift has added some of us drivers back to the "technically- unemployed" workforce, and from an industry that some of us decided to go back to BECAUSE of layoffs in the first place.... simply because there have always been driving jobs out here.

Let me just add this, how can one company, as a whole, NOT KNOW what is going on at one of their OWN testing facilities? How can one person, somewhere in that "huge foodchain" that IS Swift, say that they were unaware of any improprieties at that location?? Oh sure any of their "ongoing drivers" that are affected will be retested, but for the remainder of us? Did the aforementioned Swift drivers that were affected get to drive their trucks to the nearest testing facility? Did Swift have some "team drivers" come by to drive these particular drivers to the nearest terminal or testing facility? Were these drivers trucks parked?? Not moved...Or were they moved by the drivers even though their license was revoked as well??...Were the drivers bussed home? These are some questions I would like to find the answers to.

If anyone is finding any other current information about this whole mess, please let me know, because evidently, since May or June I have been driving around with a "revoked" license, what is highly unusual about all of this is why now all of a sudden after four inspections this year alone, in New Mexico, Florida, Missouri and Texas, not one of those officers ran my license and found this? I am also curious as to why after almost four years of driving on this particular license, that someone in Tennessee decided to do this...It took four years to figure out what was happening at that school??

There's an entire thread devoted to the Swift/Tenn issue. You might wish to take a look at that and contact some of the people.

As for me.........I'm happy at Swift.

DuraCELL, as was just stated.....make a post with facts, you obviously dont care to include them, choose not to accept them, decide not to find them. Or a combo of all 3.

please get your facts straight before making another post....not to mention....change your font.

    Can't we all get along.

I really appreciate everyone's comments. As most of you realize the truth in these forums is usually somewhere in the middle of both sides of the issue: Is Swift a Good Company?

Thanks again and keep making posts!:biggrin_25523:

    Is Swift a good company?

I have read a lot of good things and bad things. I have come to the conclusion that you get out of it what you put into it.

I go to oreintation for Swift starting Tuesday. I guess I will know then what I think of it.

Get out of it what you put into it??? You must have not read anything I have typed....What you will get out of them will be totally different I am sure...One branch of Swift may not have a clue, idea, or know squat about the licensing issue. What does remain is the fact that this "has" happened, and is affecting the livelyhood of several people. I cant hold anything against any driver that drives for them, the drivers have no idea themselves I am sure.

The drivers that attended the "scam" ahem exscuse me.."school", put our faith in them for the training to obtain a c.d.l.,(refresher for me)... and four years later after some of us are paying for our own truck, we have been put "out" or work....

I pray nothing like this EVER affects you.........good luck

When I was checking out Swift here is what I did. I went to three different rest stops and one of there terminals and talked with actual drivers. I talked to 6 drivers in all. The least amount of time was 2 years and the most was 13. All in all they told me, if you want to run and make as much as you can you will have to do three things. Run all 48 states for one. 1. People that only want to run a certain region don't have access to as much freight as those running all 48. 2. Take every run offered. A short run pays better than no run. 3. Get a Haz Mat endorsement. Not all Haz Mat runs are what you think they are. For instance a load of Orange Juice concentrate, before it has been watered down is a Haz Mat load. In order to get access to more loads the Haz Mat endorsement will help.
Just get your load where it's going on time or early and un-damaged. That's the best thing you can do. Go to the rest areas and talk to a few drivers yourself. Hope this helps.

It is obvious that you are one if the disgruntled drivers. I already have my cdl and it won't be taken away because I was tested by the state troopers in MA. I have read many things on this forum. I have paid attention to what i have read. There are numerous drivers that post that have had good expierences. Like I said, you get out of anything in life only what you put into it. Swift was not the only school in TN that was effected by he third party testers. I don't think you can blame swift for the other school too, can you. Maybe you will. I will find out for myself, because as I type this I am on my way to oreintation.
