Also our shops need to go to flatrate. Something might get done when these guys start making $100 bucks a week.

It is true that if you go into shop status and it could just be a minor repair. If they offer you another truck and you turn it down there goes your breakdown pay. Just had a long talk with DM and she confirmed this.

Well, doesn't that kind of make sense? It would be like someone turning loads down while expecting layover pay.

If the driver is given an option to get moving and make money, yet declines that option, should pay be given anyway?

    I don't think it should.

when i turned in my tractor for hometime i knew i was going to be sitting waiting for another. that was my choice. when your options are limited that way, you can complain about it or make the best of it. so i went l/o. now, waiting 3 weeks for a response from l/o recruiting...

Well I didnt take it because it was crap. Guess what the guy that took it after I turned it down is now behind me in the line for the shop. So the truck they offered me was broke. I am seeing if I can get a ride home or a bus ticket tomorrow. My truck hasnt moved.

If they expect you to move totally into it the truck needs to be in decent shape. My terminal at Superior has several "spare" trucks. They are old and beat up. I have done week long runs in them when my truck was in the shop about 5 times in 3 years. Its better than not getting a pay check. My option was at sit at home.

On the road its a different story. I check into a hotel room until the truck is fixed at our standard layover pay rate whether the work is being done by another terminal or an outside shop. If another terminal wanted me to run something out and back in a loaner truck I would do it. You make more money running than sitting. I wouldn't take a loaner into the system not knowing when I would be back though.

He is. He's talking about the wait time when he was ready to return.

You were offered a truck. There is no way the people in the office know its condition. Is there another truck available now? Or are you just so frustrated you're ready to say "f&#$ it" and go home? I understand. Believe me, I do. It pretty much describes the job at large.

Do whatever it is you think you need to do.

Your stuff is on the floor because it takes two people to remove a full windshield. They each sit in the seats and put their feet on the windshield to push it out.

You sound like you easily get upset over little stuff. You have to learn to not let the little stuff get to you. Little here, little there, before you know it, you are popping a vein. When you are mad, things don't go as well.

So what if your door was unlocked if nothing got stolen. That's getting mad over what if. All the trucks they deal with, it's not like every shop has spare keys or has a place to babysit your keys. I rarely seen a terminal shop lock a truck up.

What you see at this company you will see at many companies. Attitude has alot do with how you get treated and prosper at a company. You run around with negatives, they just keep coming.

How do you act if a 4 wheeler cuts you off? Do you want to kill them?
