Too bad that trucks that cost more then $100,000 are torn up and just plain trashed. My brother works for a place that refurbishes lease trucks from Schneider and they have stories of how nasty some of them are. Complete slobs.

I did the best I could at keeping my truck clean. Even used my own money to wash the dam thing, as I just could not stand to drive in a truck mucked up with bugs and dirt. But I found If I kept up effort to keep trash put away, dusted and wiped down the inside of the truck once in a while it was not so hard to keep clean. At least that is how it went for me.:biggrin_25525:

Company trucks are assigned and then reassigned. Some folks think while they have it they can treat it like their room when they were teenagers. Others just don't care.

It's been getting more expensive to repair, clean and refurbish after these piggies. The next driver of that company truck has to deal with it, too. One of the biggest complaints from drivers is getting a truck that is trashed on the inside. Swift is trying to put a stop (or at least a major slow down) to this.

All companies should do this, way to go Swift! I cant count the number of times i have seen trucks roll (not only Swift) into a T stop with crap piled up on the dash or in the passenger seat, there is no excuse for this! If you dont keep your truck clean then you should be fired. Not only because it is a bad reflection on the company but the trucking industry as a whole. When i drove it did not matter if it was a company truck with rubber floor mats or a loaded out Owner operator truck with carpet on the floors. I took it to extreme i know but If i dropped a sandwich on the floor i could pick it up and eat it anyway because the floor was always that clean. If the truck was stopped i was cleaning the inside of the truck, waxing the out side or polishing the wheels. Even the 2 dump trucks i drove were spotless on the inside and out no matter the working environment i was in at the time.

It's all about taking pride in your ride,if you cant do that then you have no pride in yourself or the job that you do!

...but that's just the way i see it. Opinions differ.:biggrin_25525:

Good thing. Every truck I was assigned was dirty to some extent and had to be cleaned before I could move in. Not one had been detailed before being assigned to me. And then there was the truck where the previous driver had relieved himself on the carpet before turning it in. Swift's solution to that one was to pressure wash it out, and hand the keys to me. :biggrin_2554:

Of course, I was always so happy just to get a truck that I never did complain about it. No point anyway. It would have been up to me to clean it whether I complained or not. But it is an irritant to be handed a filthy truck. :biggrin_25513:

Swift could reduce this problem if they would assign a truck long term, people would take care of them more, they would feel like home to the drivers and swift would have beter accountability when its one driver per truck instead of 20
