That wouldn't work becase the dirty drivers would have more time to put more filth in the truck

They could do what Prime does... Charge the Driver for cleaning the truck and replacement interior parts.

They been writing driver's up for having dirty trucks for little while,....but I the think the problem is, alot of the shops dont even bother reporting it to the office. I saw a driver almost get fired on the spot at the Syracuse shop 4 yrs ago after they discovered how dirty his interior was!

Well, I keep my truck a little messy on purpose - but not dirty.

By messy I mean that I tend to throw my worn underwear on the floor, and gather it up when I do laundry.

    Why, you may ask?

Because, especially in the wet months, it helps to keep the floor cleaner by acting as a mat. I hate a wet and muddy floor.

And when I go into a shop, it is all picked up first.

But there is no trash strewn about in my truck. Nothing on the dash, and all trash goes into the trash bag immediately.

I wish Knight would enforce the same rule. I got my truck full of cigarette butts, broken dash components and sticky stuff all over the controls (soda and rockstar energy drink spillage... can was still exploded sitting above the dash)

I still find butts when I clean hard to reach areas. It's GROSS!! I had to bomb this truck with that citrus spray from Trader Joe's. Took an entire bottle to neutralize most of the odor. I touch up on it every few days. I actually blasted both seats with upholstery cleaner. Didn't get them perfect, but my seats looked like someone sat on them bare-butted and just pooped and farted all day in the seats... really nasty. Black stains where your #### should be.

My first dispatcher and safety guy couldn't believe how clean I had gotten the truck. Did a better job than a detailing place does... but I have to live here, not them.

I vacuum regularly and keep my laundry hung up and dirty laundry in a big laundry bag in the closet. You can't eat off the floors, but you aren't going to get fleas or a skin disease if you hang out in my truck for a little while!

I dust on a regular basis and vacuum the non-removable carpet. I have mats that I remove and clean on a regular basis. I've learned that using an air hose isn't effective, so I have attachments that let me vacuum tight spots.

While driving, I have nothing laying around that could interfere with my controls or pedals.

Go ahead DOT... check me out.

    I think it's a good idea.

When the ex got his truck it was GROSS -dirty underpants on the floor among other dirty clothes, cigarette butts, food, garbage etc.
Took the better part of TWO days of cleaning to get it clean enough including Febreeze to get rid of the cigarette and wet dog smell that was imbeded in the walls despite being 'washed' with a carpet cleaner.

I agree -if you keep your truck like this I would hate to see your home!!! Or how you treat your friends when you visit!!!

Do you have on of those 12 volt vacuums? If so what do you have? I have looked at them at TS but they look so so cheap

I was truck shopping the other day, and climbed up into the cab of a Classic. Even though it was a chilly day I was instantly blasted by the smell of cat urine. I reeled out of the truck backwards, and the salesman came running over as he thought I had fallen. I told him to stick his head in that truck, he came out looking more green than I was. We figured it was either cat or ferret urine.

We later found out the truck had already been through their detail shop, and even had new carpet in it. It was the best they could do, and the urine had seeped down into the steel of the truck.

I find it hard to believe that a human being would actually live their life with that kind of stink, but then again. Some of the folks I smell at the truck stops...

    UGGHHHHHHHHHHH
