the boss is very smart and a great guy to work for hes got 11 or so trucks and getting 4more.He very easy to get along with and will do anything to help you out or if you got a problem with something he takes care of it right then and there.thats why i thought about doing it.But i just don't think id be happy being in a dump truck, not saying anything bad about dump truckers but i dont think its down my ale.
I was thinking of getting a dump trailer to pull behind my rig and then i could haul for him on the side, what yall think of that idea?

Could work if he's up for it. See if they'll go for it.

Sometimes I drive a dump on the weekends for extra cash. It is easy work but is boring as hell. It seems that the day goes on for ever, usually 5 to 5. I do it for a side job because it is easy money, but really don't like doing it and wouldn't do it full unless it was a last resort, I just get tired of dirt pits, and runing the same route 10, 15, 20 times a day. Now I know some guys love it so I guess it is just every ones preference of what they like. I have a friend that hauls chips for williams brothers says he loves it.

Ask if you can run on a weekend when your off to see if you like it. Or at least ride with some one for a portion of the day, but man if I was making2500 a week I wouldn't even think about that job. My buddy said he makes about 200 a day but he is home every night and works about 12 hour days, I thought about going over there but they are about 1 hour from me and start at 4 or 5 so I would have to leave at 3 and not get home till 5 or 6 that night.

I worked like that when I was running dump trucks. We would run up to 18 hours a day sometimes. Sleep while we were sitting during the day.

Dump trucks are okay. I did it for a couple years. One job was hauling asphalt and gravel. It can be seasonal and weather can shut you down. Another job I did was for an excavating company. It was year round and a great job. I learned to run different equipment loading my own fill dirt. Track Hoes are fun. I moved the equipment around and hauled dirt, gravel, stumps, and even mulch.

    Upside, home daily
Down side, can be seasonal and get rained out

Best home job I had was a rolloff garbage truck. Worked 7-3 M-F. Many fringe benefits as you become a dumpster diver :). They would go crazy at the landfill everytime a Walmart dumpster come in. They would throw new stuff away including returns. I got fishing rods, TV's and other good stuff.

I always miss OTR and go back. I been out 6 years this stretch. I'm ready for some hometime again. Two more years the house will be paid for and I'm considering semi retirement.
