I just switched over from vans. Talk to your FM. Bill will call you and do a quick interview with you to get a feel for why you want to change. If that goes well plan on being in Gary the very next Saturday for the load securement classes. It starts at 1300 til 1700 Sat. The 0600 sun until about 1700. Then you will ride with a local trainer for 3-5 day (mine was 4) and then you will be assigned a flat bed power unit and given your first load.

lots of the phase 2 students coming out of gary for flatbed have no cargo securement at all. some have half an hour, some have an afternoon.

cargo securement is now taught on the road as part of phase 2.

Not supposed to be. Supposed to have securement before I get them. Then I'm supposed to give them real world experience with it.

First off I personally HATE those stupid sacks hanging on trucks... idiots! Lol i want to grab the cutters and remove them all. My kids don't need to see that crap.
second i love when a guy gets so upset when someone makes a joke... this is a public forum that anyone can join and comment on. Calm down... it isn't a personal attack. By the way thank you for your service.
Third if you want a professional answer call roehl they are the ones who will know and are required to answer professionally.
By the way I switched the opposite way and still have mine... lol

    skyviper73 Thanks this.

Thanks again for the info guys. I talked to my FM today and was put in touch with Mitch Lagrande and starting tomorrow I will be under a new FM in the flatbed division and take the classes and training next trip out! I'm sorry I could not take the joke but sometimes you just wake up on the wrong side of the sleeper! I'm happy to be able to stay with Roehl rather than take the job offer I had from another flatbed company and risk moving to a company that doesn't fit me.

Frog I know i appreciate you owning up to "not taking the joke" we all do it too. Hope flats work well for ya. I started in a slow period and had no actual FM. So miles were light and i needed to make money... didn't make a lot sitting so much.
hey and good luck with that skateboard!
