I did six months solid of nights, for a large construction project here, that ran 24/7.
I didn't actually mind it! I seemed to sleep better, actually! I have no kids though, so my time is flexible.
The worst part? The neighbors looking at me funny when I pound back a six-pack at 07:00 AM. They were probably thinking, "This guy has a problem."

I did a stretch of 2 weeks working 7pm to 7am. I never did get used to it and took a week to get over it.
Worked the first night and wasn't too bad. Got home that morning and couldn't sleep well because I wasn't used to sleeping during the day. The second night was murder, I was just worn out from not having any good sleep for 2 days. Didn't have any trouble sleeping the second day. The third night was ok as I had a good sleep. Then again I couldn't get a good sleep on the third day. This cycle continued for two weeks without ever getting accustomed.
I love the night atmosphere but my body just can't take it. I'd have to get awfully hungry before I pulled a 2 week stint again. I was mad at the world for those two weeks.NavigatorWife, Lepton1 and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
I get particular about keeping my windshield, windows, and mirrors spotless as possible when I drive at night. It helps a lot if the glare of headlights aren't lighting up bug guts, mud, or dust on the windshield.
Recently I tried some of those night driving glasses, with the yellow tint. They do seem to cut down on glare, but take some getting used to. -
I keep a little rubbermaid box with windshield cleaning fluid in it and a expandable paint pole with a squeegee in the side compartment. So whenever I stop, take 30, waiting for trailer, whatever, i can clean the window easily without having to pull into a station.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I wish I could just drive late 2nd shift.
For some reason, if I've had a long dull day, I've notice I will wake right back up as the sun sets. I also feel comfortable driving until 5 to 6am. -
