Trying to switch my authority category from HOUSEHOLD GOODS to common freight. Already switched it on mcs 150. But safer snapshot still says authorized for HHG. FMCSA has told me 3 different answers including “I’m to go”. Another agent said “Can’t be done” another said “fill out OP-1 to switch.” Another said “fill out OP-1 and add another authority to existing number”

Spend $35 and become a member of OOIDA.

Then you can call them and they either will do it for you for a small fee, or they'll explain to you how to do it.

They will also answer any questions that you have about compliance, or your authority, or anything regarding FMCSA or regulations or anything else regarding trucking.

And if you know how to navigate it, they have pretty good tire discounts and other things too.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the best $35 you're ever going to spend in this business.

Oh for sure I’ve been thinking about doing it. Just with so much going on, didn’t even cross my mind that they could help. Thanks great advice.

OOIDA will fill out most stuff for you in the amount of about $40 bucks if a member. Well worth it if you have problems with understanding how the government works. I hate the way they do things and have used OOIDA a few times. They do a great job for this kind of stuff.

    I concur with this completely.

When you fill out your Authority paperwork or any paperwork for the government for that matter, if you make a mistake it will delay you sometimes in a way that is colossal.

They do these things every single day and when they do it, they do it right and they do it once.

Yep I had them do my Authority paperwork for me. I did not want to take a risk of getting it kicked backed after paying 24K on insurance. Time was not on my side when I started.
