When I quit Werner I waited till I was on home time, cleaned out my truck and then sent a message in that I got a job opportunity that I had wanted for a long time and that I'm starting the new job in 2 weeks and if he could route me to the nearest terminal as soon as possible. He called me up just to see whats going and I explained. He got me to the Omaha terminal 4 days later where I turned the truck in and caught the train home. My dispatcher called me the next morning wandering if I made it home safely and if I ever want to come back just give him a call. They even sent my $400 deposit back a couplle months later even tho I turned in a dirty truck. I would just do whatever you would want your employee to do.

I'm all about not burning bridges and doing the right thing but obviously they do not care about you in the least. Unbelieveable. -
What company is this so I know to avoid them at all costs?

Return the truck to your home terminal, clean it out, turn your notice in. Don't let them assign you a load or claim you quit under a load. Document everything you can, and if the company has a written procedure in whatever employees manual or handouts they gave you, follow it...keep a copy.
You would think with turnover so high, and the risk of having to retrieve a truck from some backwater parking lot, most companies would respect the fact you brought the truck back, and clean?
Too many will play games with you, fire you on the spot, or starve you to death on a whim. I don't feel the need to give them notice, UNLESS the company has been decent to me, and had a reputation for being fair to drivers who quit properly.
I don't go to work for companies that doesn't have a terminal near where I live anymore, and one I can't park my car at. I won't ride buses...or beg for a bus ticket.
Make sure you have enough money saved to cover the few weeks, or months, between paychecks.
Stuff happens. Sometimes there is a glitch in the hiring process, even when somebody is promising you a job over the phone. You're not hired until you leave the terminal behind the wheel. -
Do I smell a burning Warner truck somewhere or is this a different big blue W?
