Even though you changed radio i would seperately chk the ant..Once you know its tuned then your good..Now if.you tried one radio and a few min later tried another radio,i would still test set up via that newly installed radio to see what meter shows..Use that as a reference point..

No, you tune the antenna to be resonate to a frequency, location on the vehicle and or surroundings may have an effect on the readings, but the antenna is not tuned to the vehicle. Once it's tuned you should not have to re-tune it because you changed radios, legal radios transmit and receive on the same frequencies regardless of the model or brand.HD_Renegade Thanks this.

Just a little FYI, you can tune it for resonance or for the lowest SWR, these are two different things.
I know I just complicated thing but ... -
That's right, but for those of us who don't have an antenna analyzer except for a simple SWR meter, we go with what we got, and the lowest SWR got to do.
We're fortunate, however, in that the lowest SWR will get one acceptably close enough to frequency resonance. And like grenades, close enough will get the job done for anybody but perfectionists, who relish that bit of extra signal strength that can only be discerned on a precise meter.
